My Recommendation is La Durée for great macarons and Shakespeare and Company for books à la ‘Before’ Trilogy (English books are relatively expensive in France. This tip was from Jack Edwards)
@mathieuandrieux2 жыл бұрын
You should go through the rue de Rivoli which goes from place de la Concorde, passes in front of the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries and the Marais (gay neighbourhood). You should also visit the Jardin du Luxembourg which are beautiful. The Rodin museum is also beautiful with gardens filled with statues.

As a French person, parisian nonetheless, I usually find tourists adorable. As long as you're not imagining Emily in Paris, France should not disappoint. I hope you're going to have a lovely time here!!

I've heard France is ridiculously expensive and the people are rude. I still really want to go though but everyone always tries to put me off!
@mathieuandrieux2 жыл бұрын
@@RebeccaLouisePeacock I can't say if it is expensive as I've not lived in another country to compare. But from what I know it isn't that expensive if you avoid the tourist traps. For example, I'd recommend cooking your own food, avoid touristy restaurants, avoid Disneyland (it's pricey and really there's better things to see), walk or use public transports, buy stuff in normal shops not tourist specific spots. Most people aren't rude but if you disturb someone or annoy them they'll probably won't be are very welcoming or accomodating. We aren't known to be nice, probably because we are quite self centered and aren't very welcoming. But frankly, most people won't be rude. You just have to know a few things about how french people normally act.

How lovely you come to pay us a visit Amanda! Your French translations in your video were perfect! In June, (my favorite season) in Paris, you have to enjoy the beautiful gardens! Tuileries, Luxembourg, Jardin des Plantes. If you really want to see Paris as a Parisian, avoid de Sacré Coeur, but visit the butte around and beneath Montmartre touristic area ( try the ice creams of une glace à Paris at Abbesses); at the foot of the sacré coeur, visit la halle Saint pierre, a small galerie with a small café) You will love walking on the Seine borders, ending up in quartier latin and Saint Germain where you’ll find many restaurants. Visit the Sainte Chapelle in stead of Notre Dame, you will be amazed! Le Marais must be on your list! Shopping, beautiful old Parisian houses (don’t mis the oldest one 51 rue Montmorency), plenty of museums, marché des enfants rouges (for a lunch break)… Walk buy the Canal Saint Martin, for a real contemporary vibe of Paris. Rue Montmartre, rue Saint Orgueil, rue des Rosiers, rue Mouffetard… For the Louvre: you’ll have to decide either to spend 3 days there or choose one area and enjoy it fully, because it is really huge! There are so many beautiful museums in Paris… Picasso, Rodin, Orsay, Orangerie, Foundation Louis Vuitton, see if you can visit Petit Palais! You’ll need to come back if you want to see all this! 😂 Use the bus in stead of the metro, same price, slower indeed, but you will see WAYYYY more of Paris. Be careful if you use the bikes… 😱 Parisian drivers don’t know how to deal safely with bikes! I know it is difficult to avoid touristic areas cause you want to see the highlights, but I hope you will have time to wonder around and fill your eyes with beautiful things (I know you will) You are lucky, the weather will be great! Enjoy Paris, have a safe trip, make beautiful memories ❤️ Thank you for your video’s!

Bonjour ! Nice to hear you come to see us, especially if it's your first time in Europe. Hope you're going to enjoy your time in our country. A few tips for you : in Paris, don't skip the Musée d'Orsay, it's a classic of course but there is an atmosphere here you won't find anywhere else, as the museum used to be a railway station. And now two things to do in Paris that foreigner tourists don't know about : visit the Musée Jacquemart André, it used to belong to a rich family who build a "hotel particulier", wealthiest houses you could find in Europe back in the days. The place is rather small and very french-like, I'm sure you're gonna love it, especially the "jardin d'hiver". If you got time I think you'd like to have a nice tea or coffee in the garden of the Musée de la vie romantique too. About Nice : I still don't know why people go to visit Nice. I guess it is to see Provence, which is a good idea, but why Nice ? I don't know. As a girl living in Provence since I was born, I'd be advancing to go see lavender fields near Valensole or beautiful villages in Luberon like Gordes, Roussillon, Lacoste, Lourmarin, Saignon etc... But if you go to Nice anyway, I think you should have a day trip to go visit la Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and the Saint Paul de Vence, a beautiful village of Provence where Picasso used to have his workshop. Hope this will be helpfull !

One of my fave experiences in Paris was watching the street performers at the Sacre Coeur. Since it’s at the top of this huge hill you get an amazing view of the city and the sunset from there was so gorgeous! And also visit Marie Antoinette’s estate in Versailles. It’s real cute and I know it would make for great inspiration for some artwork. Happy early birthday and enjoy your trip!

I just got back from Paris! It's beautiful right now! See the Louvre-hit the highlights it's magical. The Luxembourg Jardin is worth the walk through, and just sit in a cafe for 2 hours, eat, drink and people watch. It's amazing how much they enjoy their day to day vs American "hustle" culture.

3 advices: 1)search for a free tour and book it (at the end you pay a tip to the tour guide so it's not really free but they do a very good job in my experience). I loved the one to Montmatre. 2-if you are planning to visit Louvre check first their website and select or choose which pieces you want to see... otherwise you could feel overwhelmed and focussed on something you are not really that much into it). Seriously it's big enought to spend a week just visiting it so check and choose first. And check the route inside with the map in advance. 3- I loved the Rodin museum, part of the sculptures are outside in a garden is very impressive. Also: keep in mind Everything is smaller in Europe (room size, bed, streets, etc).

I have been to Paris multiple times …. I would suggest the Orsay Museum - be sure to go to the top floor and look through the clock for a stunning view of Paris, Monet’s home just outside of Paris - it’s an easy train ride and then a short hop on a bus … the gardens are incredible. Finally grab a cab at night and have them drive you around to see Paris at night especially the Eiffel Tower sparklingly in the night sky. It’s a completely amazing city and if all you did was land and then walk around it would be wonderful. Word of caution at the airport make certain if you take a cab to you hotel it’s a ligit taxi and not a gypsy.
@sarahmcdougal25552 жыл бұрын
I would research ways to buy tickets to museums (especially the Louvre if you go) ahead of time - that was you don’t have to wait in a long line just to get your ticket. If you’re staying at a small hotel or with a host, ask them for their neighborhood recommendations - their favorite bakery, cafe, etc. Locals know best! Try finding a farmers’ market - they are always a lot of fun! You can get yourself a picnic lunch - some bread, cheese, fruit, pastries - and go sit in a park and people watch. Above all, enjoy! I’m sure you’ll have a blast!

Definitely go to Quartier Latin and wander around the streets, seat in a cafe if you have time... and I know it is super cliché but that is Paris, tiny cafés in sketchy streets that serve the most amazing croissants you have ever tasted!!!! Also speaking of croissant, you do want to try local pastry, any boulangerie would do 😍😍😍 Monuments: I do recommend the Sainte Chapelle if you have time, I visited it the last time I went to Paris and I loved it.

also, spring is the perfect time to visit Giverny and Monet's gardens which inspired his water lilies (which you can see in the Orangerie). The Buttes Chaumont park is the most beautiful one in Paris :) and a great restaurant for typical French food from the South-East is Chez Papa - it's a chain, but if you go to the one near Denfert Rochereau (in the 14th arrondissement) you wouldn't know, it's delicious!
