Coffee with Lisa. So happy about the house plan! We bought our house new and had many years without major home repairs. I can’t believe $210k . Homes here are 4 or 5 times that!

Have you all discussed what happens if Lisa wants to move out at some point? What happens if she decides to marry and her spouse doesn't want to live in a joint house to raise their family? You would have to buy them out and refinance. Or sell the house and move elsewhere. Most advice I have heard advises against buying a house with your child.

We would sell, split the proceeds and all will be good. I’m not worried about that at all.

Multigenerational homes are becoming more common in the US. I live in Minnesota and they are popping up everywhere. Very exciting!

Just remember new builds always go over the estimated amount quoted to build. I’m not sure if you have property tax where you live but if you do a new build will have higher property taxes. Just to keep in mind for budgeting.

Good morning Lisa and happy birthday to your granddaughter that is so sweet! My third grandbaby was born earlier in this month on 9 August. He came several weeks early but he’s been home for a little over a week now and he’s doing amazing grandbaby number four is due in December and it’s a girl! This will give me two grandsons and two granddaughters.

I can’t believe the price of a new house in your area! That’s amazing! House prices here in Oregon are double and triple that!

On the surface, I love the idea of multigenerational living, but I would always keep in mind the downsides. CA is still very young and a future potential partner may not like the idea of living with her and you regardless of floor plan. If you don’t mind me asking, what is the square footage range like on a $210k house there? I live in the south where real estate is cheap, but I haven’t seen any new builds over 1000 square feet for that amount.

@@LisaMarieBudgets check your local zoning laws. I looked at getting a tiny house in east TN and they don’t allow you to tie in to power on an existing structure where I live. Local ordinances have not caught up 100% with the tiny house movement in the South
