I wish you would do more of these videos for planning the tile lay out and also rooms that are out of square.👍

I agree Sal, planning your layout is everything. If the tile doesn’t look symmetrical it cancels out the whole job. Great tip.

A large part of layout is about looking for aesthetic perfection and sometimes settling for just about perfect. The rest is all about practicality of construction practices and creating perfection through great planning. Great video and topic.

Great video Sal! Countless knowledge of products available, proper application and fineness means nothing if you and the consumer are dissatisfied with the end result! Always plan ahead.

I enjoy your videos, you pack a lot of good information into each of them. You might consider using a tripod, the camera bounce can be distracting.

Concur with the use of a tripod. While at it a cordless mic for audio quality.

Great video as always! How long does it take you to tile a basic 3x5 shower? I’ve done a few and take a lot of time to make sure I do it right, but curious how long it would normally take a full time pro!

Maybe try mounting your camera instead of holding it. It was kinda difficult to watch without feeling dizzy. Props on your timing technique though!!! I learn new ways to deal with issues every time I watch your videos!!

Great video Sal. Which do you think is more esthetically pleasing, a cut tile at the tub and a full tile at the ceiling or the opposite - a full tile at the tub and a cut tile at the ceiling?
@SalDiBlasi5 жыл бұрын
Not really that cut and dry, pun intended, you have to take into consideration balance, other elements in the tub area, the size of the cuts at the ceiling and tub, the size of the tile and more. But generally I think the cut at the tub is more important than the ceiling.

Hi again Sal. Do you have a go to spacing for 12 X 24 tiles you instal? That is a 16th or an 1/8th.

Good day , so you build your niche after you started your tiles , so you have it lined up where you need it to be .?
@SalDiBlasi5 жыл бұрын
Yes, makes it easy to get it exactly where it needs to be.

Thanks Sal, I too would hope to see more of this subject. I have 12x12 marble tiles for shower wall tiles. Can one use a running bond or is straight stacked the only way to go? (small 36x42inch shower)
@SalDiBlasi2 жыл бұрын
You can do running bond, but most times you just stack 12x12s

if you start your tile dead center and the niche is dead center will you always have a full tile around the niche? Also if you start right in the center wont your cuts pretty much be all the same for both sides?
@95thousandroses5 жыл бұрын
Not sure exactly what you mean on first question but yes I think so. On the second ?, yes you will be equal but you may end up with small equal slivers of tile on each end and you want to avoid that. That was what the main point of his vid was, to avoid the small pieces of tile that never looks very good.
@katzfam10895 жыл бұрын
@@95thousandroses I mean starting in the middle so you have half cut tiles on an offset pattern instead of slivers.

My brain hurts, I’m trying to do the layout for my shower walls but I can’t fully comprehend how to do this. 😂 my tiles are 11.8 x 23.6 inches. My shower isn’t even that big, which may be why I’m struggle bussing this whole build.

Please guys, write a reasonable time frame for doing such work as in this video. My boss makes me do everything as it seems to me unnecessarily quickly, and I do not understand whether this is my problem.
@SalDiBlasi5 жыл бұрын
Bosses will always complain about how long it is taking to get it done. My guess your boss i just worried about the bottom line more than the quality of the work. Maybe time to find a new boss or have a talk with him. Learn as much as you can, attend as much training as possible, get informed about proper standards and methods, get experience, be patient, then become your own boss.

Appreciate the advice Sal, but you've got to work on your video skills. Too jerky, too close up. Perhaps a longer shot (from a greater distance) and definitely stop the herky-jerky motion. Gives me vertigo! But I did learn a thing or two.

How is it possible to even set tile when 90%of your tools are in the tub with you,and everybody a STICK will not give you an exact measurement like a tape measure would, heard of it?
@SalDiBlasi5 жыл бұрын
It is a tool to help with layout, use it if it helps, don't if you think it is a waste of time. This is an age old method, I did not invent it.
@anthonycarl38245 жыл бұрын
KEVIN M. Sal said the tub wasn't level, the story pole is a tape measure. You line it up from the top of the first coarse... he cut that level, or filled in later!
