Plane ESC calibration using iNav

Trying to calibrate an ESC on a plane utilizing iNav, or BetaFlight, can be tricky. The FC won't allow you to ARM ahead of plugging in a battery, and by thetime it will allow you to ARM you ESC had already booted up. You can bypass the radio throttle by using the motors tab in the configurator and then pluggin in the battery. All demonstrated in this video.

It's crazy to think there are so many fixed wing only pilots. This has been a betaflight quad thing for years now. But alas I do remember the old way of calibrating my wings.

Mine goes from 1000 to 1850, why can this be?

1850 is the default value in the configuration tab, or outputs tab in 2.4.0 or later. I make mine 1950.

@@BobCorey well if you do the calibration then you will have full throttle range, the FC might only send 1000-1850, but you are setting your ESC to recognize 1850 as full high signal.

I have a hobby wing xrotor 40amp and even when plugged direct to power and powered via the fc I just get a single beep every second and nothing else. I'm more used to blheli than these big old dinosaur esc's

Sounds like the ESC isn't getting a good signal from the ESC. Which protocol is set in the config tab? I'd try Standard if it's on another, if it's already in standard maybe try another. Also, is there mixer setup for motor?

@@NoAgendaFPV I've got it sorted now, it was on multishot not standard, also I had to set my mid and end points as throttle was reading too low.
