I know if I thought my plane was going down but the pilots land it safely with no injuries I certainly wouldn't be crying about the evacuation. Some people

Before the Narrator said towards the end, that the Pilots need Commending, I had already said to myself that these Pilots need Commending for their Superior Skills that saved everyone on Board, and if I was ever in a negative situation on any future flights, I would want these Pilots to be at the Controls.. Message to the flight crew, well done....🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

The action of utilising the ballooning effect of selecting flap is something always in the back of our minds if things are going pear-shaped.. well done that crew.. Having said that, the words of Frank Borman are also filed away in our brains, keeping us and our passengers away from the darker sides of aviation: "“A superior pilot uses his superior judgment to avoid situations which require the use of his superior skill.”.. They would have been better advised to take their alternate and land at Boston.

I think that the weather was far from ideal and on hindsight the flight could have been delayed or cancelled, but the Pilots did a great job and lessons were learned by the Airline M.D. and the Air Safety Board.

I like this better than "The Flight Channel ". I don't need to read a bunch of text.

Quite honestly the main take away should be LACK of CRM as the CP did not make the specified and required altitude calls. Also, when given an altimeter setting each pilot should cross check the other to confirm correct input. So, they busted minimums, collided with terrain and heavily damaged a good airplane. Lastly, there is something to be said about the decision to continue vs diverting to better weather. What are the x-wind limitations on that plane? The post accident flying was beyond excellent and the pilot likely saved lives getting the aircraft to the runway! Both of the flight crew would be shining stars had they not caused the crash! I realize that’s a tough assessment but I believe it’s accurate and truthful.

So he should keep calling out incorrect altitudes? The rest of the assessment is accurate, but that first point seems ill-advised.

If this isn't a case of 'mustgetthereitis' I don't know what is. A crash would have been put down to pilot error. If your plane can't hold the ILS due to the wing, there;s something not right.

Well excuse the eighties for not having that computer system of that time period of the late 90s technology

Interesting that it seems most of these types of accidents happen late at night..... I suspect pilot fatigue resulting in poor decision making is a contributing factor... It doesn't make me happy to hear that published MDA was significantly lower than required tho...... Nice technique by adding full flaps at the end, to get that extra float to get to the runway. I commend the pilot's for that move. Good stick and rudder skills sometimes save your ass.

9 million dollar repair and it went back into service? Now I know why I will never set foot in a commercial airplane.

Obviously you don't know about the cost of aircraft nor repair. The engines were replaced, that was 90 percent of the cost Mr. Aircraft Engineer!

but yet we'll drive our car on the Interstate or a two lane road with other cars passing us in the opposite direction traveling at 65 MPH... and who knows home many of those drivers are driving home from "happy hour". Fascinating.

That was terrifying to me! If that was a car that had that much damage the insurance company would definitely call a total loss as it would not be safe to operate on the street anymore. Also they used the slides, were the new slides attached even as safe as the original? Honest question because I don't know!
