Dude, big props to the dad that scared the bear. That is the absolute BEST way to escape safely from an encounter from a wild bear. Stand your ground, don't panic, try to act bigger than said bear, shout loudly, and don't even give two shits about the neighbors complaining about loud noise, cause they owe you one.

They don't 'allow' low landings. They REQUIRE low landings. That runway is so short that airplanes have to touch down as soon as they can.

The tourists are the ones at fault. They know the airplane is coming, there's a police announcement and even street signs warning them to stay clear (I think it says to stay clear for over 200 meters) but they ignore all of this for a recording of the plane landing/taking off. I believe a woman was blown away at the same exact spot a month ago. Yes a full grown woman, jet engines are no joke.

The whole family acted so well with the bear. The mother gets help immediately and tries to put herself between the dog and the bear (instead of running to safety!!). The little boy blocks his younger sibling from coming out and lets the dog through. The mom stands in the doorway, protecting everyone inside and not locking the dad out. And of course the dad responded soooo fast and used great instincts to scare the bear away!! The whole family did great

He could just make it all black any time he wants so that no photo/officer could write down his license. This is not a serious crime in itself but it could help a criminal get away with something.

Yes, and not just for landing.....crowds also gather for take offs.....one woman was killed a while ago when she lost her grip on the fence she was clinging to and got blown unto a concrete highway divider. The runways are short with high terrain off one end. these "low approaches" are necessary in order to land....with almost full power engine run ups being necessary to take off.

Then the ferocious Walking Stick, ever advancing, managing to derive a roar of fear when he launches himself at the 5'10" man, who retires quickly and reasonably, I might add. I enjoyed the plane coming in low, and the frying eggs just a few feet from a terrible roiling flood, The snake in a walking wheel chair! I just came back from that exact airport 4 days ago from CORFU. This lane has just 2 kilometers of length but it never was a cause for ANY disaster! People say it's the most dangerous one but there was not a single one crash on it since building it! :) Landing on it was na breeze from a passangers perspective and we had like 1/3 of the lane ahead of us when we stopped.

then you'd make the wrong move, the best move against black bears is to intimidate them, black bears get intimidated way easier than other types of bears while being passive or attempting to get away triggers it's predator mode. Grizzly bears generally leave people alone so long as people give them a wide birth, playing dead while laying on stomach is usually the right choice here since for Grizzly bears, it's usually about the territory and usually do not see humans as prey. The bear to truly fear is the Polar Bear, that's when you shit your pants. But seriously, black bears get intimidated way too easily, which is problematic for them since house cats love chasing them up trees, yea... that happens.
