the Freccia high speed train is great. the Compania Express only runs from March to October. otherwise you have to take the commuter train with frequent stops.

Icelandair does free stopover for up to 5 days I believe. We're doing that coming back from Dublin ending in Portland Oregon but staying 24 hours in Iceland to celebrate our 60th birthdays in the Blue lagoon! Thanks for all the information you have shared on this Monday night travel!

what if you book through separate airlines that have air alliance on connecting flights? i had major issues with one world alliance last summer (iberia and american). there seems to be no assistance when one leg of your flight is canceled... the air alliance doesn't seem to work.

Don't use Europcar! I had a horrible experience with them at three different airports in Italy when the car they gave me broke down. They cost me an entire day of our two-week trip, not to mention the fraudulent charges for unsubstantiated damage.

What changed with Brexit is that before a simple ID Card (>96% of EU citizens have one) was enough, now you need a full Passport (only 40% have one). In the EU you only need your ID Card for Travel. But since US citizens need their Passport either way it porbably doesnt make much of a difference.

Lots of good information that will be helpful to me when I travel to the UK next year. However, and I truly don’t mean to be intolerant, but it’s very annoying when a person says the word “so” at the beginning of every sentence as well as multiple times throughout the sentence. I don’t know how this got started in the last few years, but it reminds me of the 80s and 90s when the annoying, overused word back then was “um”…..
