The Boeing B727 is a true legend, and a long gone airliner. The last ones flying can be found in Iran, with Aseman Airlines. The planes are used on the airlines longer, denser routs and trunk routs from Tehran to Mashhad. The planes are still in great shape, with a really classic comfortable cabin and the legendary hospitality of Aseman.
This flight was plan B after the B707 flight of Saha got cancelled. In the end a few seconds before startup, the B707 roared past the B727. To witness this in 2013 from inside an active classic B727 is unbelievable aviation heaven.
The performance of the Boeing Trijet was rather disappointing, considering a load factor of about 50% and a rather cold day, especially if compared to the Tupolev TU-154. But in all this lies the beauty of the B727. And sitting in the rear, with the engines singing along is just great. By the way, there are hardly any videos around with the B727-200’s engines from inside. Never the less Iran Aseman Airlines’ B727 configs allow for such a seating, just aft of the rear emergency exit.
If one visits Iran, this beautiful Persian Trijet is a must, not just because of the plane itself, but also because of this magnificent airline and it’s crews! Hopefully this legend will be around for a few more years, and bring joy to lots of enthusiasts visiting this great country!
