Ah, nice. I started in this area on purpose with my new 1.0 run as well. I have been enjoying discovering the new additions to the terrain. The Rainbow Caves nearby are also really cool, and once the ice melts, they become even cooler with the vast varieties of quartz. I was looking at the blueprint screen with this new update, and there has been so much added since the last time I played(which was the volcanic update last October). There are a couple nice places to build in the ice plains biome. I picked a spot that I thought would be nice(which is in the same area as your first base module you built next to the drop pod), and has been, but once the water came in, I found an even nicer spot that I find myself wishing I had built my main base in lol.

on the other side of the spires you have one of my favourite bse sites, right next to the iridium cave, also its not far from the sulphur area, and the aluminum spot. you second base shoould have been dropped in the spires.... theres a great wreck site in there for raiding supplies.
