Funnily enough, the Amur leopard and African leopard ARE the same species. They are just different subspecies. That being said, I am glad that they added the African sub species because it feels like the last iconic large animal the game was missing.

A very recent study has actually proposed that the african and asian leopard populations are actually distinct enough genetically from one another to be their own species each within panthera. Honestly that kinda makes its inclusion even more warranted tbh.

I just really hope we get some birds, the walkthrough habitats are right there, there is no reason for them to leave out flying birds at this point. Tho they may want to keep that for the eventual Planet Zoo sequel, which would be unfortunate tbh since some birds would fit so well in the current walkthrough habitat system.

1) the game NEEDED the african leopard..it was bizarre it was missing 2) there are TWO leopards already in the game...if they put it in a PAID DLC that would have been worse... 3) past free animals were another lemur, and a deer...another leopard fits that trend perfectly...by that logic if we get another free animal at some point I could see the "American Black Bear", something that is requested but you wouldn't want to pay for But I see your point about the peccary adding something unique.

Technically, there’s only one leopard. The Amur Leopard. Snow Leopards are more closely related to Tigers. Clouded Leopards are more their own thing and closely related to the Sabretooths.

People are always upset about the animal lists with new DLCs so much but I never really understand it. I just love getting more animals to look at lol. I’ve had so many ideas for an African leopard and Pallas cat, and personally I don’t think there can be enough deer and antelope. There’s so many amazing species that could still be added to those groups. I’m pleased with another primate as well. Fingers crossed this pack is also hiding a spectacled bear!

@@RainWave13 it's because many of the animals people want are well known by the PZ team but they turn around and give animals that no one really asked for as often as they do others. Like flying birds for example. Now for me, I'm thrilled we're getting the Pallas cat to I can round out the Predator Zone for my zoo based on the one from my local zoo in my state. HOWEVER I'm part of the group of players that feel we have enough large primates (I would love tamarins and squirrel monkeys, though and few more lemurs. Thank God for Mods). As well as having a few more South East America, native species, reptiles and insects. Seriously, I'd break my back doing a backflip for an eastern diamondback or timber rattler, copperhead, snapping turtle, or even gray bats which are an endangered species.

If we're getting the Markhor, that's probably one of the most unique ungulates that Frontier could have chosen, they're very exotic-looking and their curly horns are different from anything else we have in the game currently. Plus, we're also getting a primate and presumably a tree kangaroo (if the leaks are correct). If that's the case, I see no reason to be unhappy with the Markhor, especially if it's the only ungulate in the pack.

I love how my initial reaction to you saying “a game I have loved for so many years now” was to think “No, it came out a few weeks before [my husband’s name] and I started dating” before I realized that we will have been together 5 years in December with our second wedding anniversary in March 2025. There's no way that this would be the last pack for Planet Zoo, because other than the Hamadryas Baboon and maybe the Markhor, the Pallas' Cat doesn't seem like a highly requested animal at all. If there has to be a sunset to Planet Zoo's support, I'd expect something much bigger like they did to the JWE games, at least in a way that would not disappoint many fans. Surely a keeper in the background might imply that this would be the Zookeeper's Animal Collection pack we're talking about, but like I said, it's not really the case, unless if you want to round it up all with a majority of the least interesting animal choices. Maybe time will tell but if this has to be the last pack, then I would be extremely disappointed, given that I've invested so much on PZ's DLCs, and there are so many wishlist animals from other regions that are being excluded, such as the Secretarybird, the Tree Kangaroo, the Walrus and most primates from Latin America. Therefore, I think this one has to be the Highlands Animal pack, and we should expect maybe one more pack that would finally feature the community's favorites, perhaps saved on December, or at most the beginning of next year. Moving on to the anniversary animal, I think the African Leopard is a fine pick as it essentially completes the Big Five of Africa, and I hope it's a sign of implementing more unique big cat animations instead of a blatant clone of the Amur Leopard. Here are my predictions for this eight-animal pack Pallas Cat: Confirmed as the poster boy of this pack Markhor: Its spiral-shaped horns in the background make it an obvious choice Hamadryas Baboon: Noticeable fluffy alpha male on the rock face, not to mention the recent "additions" to Planco Dictionary that have given us a hint Spectacled Bear: The American Black Bear would have made sense, but this one is more unique and it is a fan favorite, not to mention it's the only bear from Latin America Golden Pheasant: Free-flight birds are inevitable for a sequel, yet it's appalling that there's currently a limited selection of ground-dwelling birds we have, and it has to be addressed with this one Wild Yak: Have to include this one as ungulates in general, are easier to make and would save time & resources. To be honest, I already had an ungulate-fatigue every time they reveal animals from this group Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey: There's no such thing as too many primates in a zoo game, in fact, it would give some variety when it comes to building Asian-themed zoos. Exhibit Animal: Bald Eagle Hear me out. I know flying birds are unlikely for PZ1 but God forbid, we would get a yet another uninteresting glass-exhibit animal from an existing group like the Mangshan Pit Viper, which feels like not worth the wait for many months. Ignoring PC2, I'm confident that they must have spent all this time creating a never-before-seen new mechanic to help ensure modders would get the extra mile in the long run, once the game's support ends. Yes, I'm talking about the birds-of-prey because they don't really fit the walkthrough exhibit mechanic, yet they aren't suited for open-habitats. After all, there are a plenty of candidates to choose from since they are mostly mountainous animals, and the Bald Eagle is the first to come in mind. I can see this as a sort of a mix between a habitat animal and an exhibit animal, that has unique interactions, needs and behaviours, whilst should be caged at the same time. Maybe it's unlikely but personally, I really want to see that happening. Honorable Mentions: American Black Bear, Rock Hyrax, Alpine Marmot, Canadian Goose, Mangshan Pit Viper (Exhibit Slot), Japanese Giant Salamander (Exhibit Slot)

Personally, I love that the African leopard is the anniversary animal. It’s nice that it isn’t locked behind dlc, and it’s cool that we get all the major big cats in base game, not to mention the model looks beautiful! The DLC should be exciting though! It is a highland themed pack. For the other 4 habitat animals I hope for spectacled bear, rocky mountain elk, mountain hare (Lagomorphs are a common suggestion), and the tree kangaroo. For the exhibit animal I think it’ll be the bogong moth (a walkthrough exhibit species and the first moth in the game).

Keep in mind fhe amur leopard is in a DLC- this anniversary animal is similar to the red deer in that it gives all players something that is based on an existing DLC. Not a species I'm very excited about, but makes a lot of sense in that regard.

Guys dont lose hope for the Secretary Bird!!, while they are considered a Savannah animal they are still present in mountains as not all mountains are sheer cliffs. For example the mountains in South Africa have secretarybirds frequently sighted on them. It is still possible but as of now less likely. I am more hopeful that the pack will be larger and could maybe be 6 highlands, 6 other

No way we'd get something like the tamandua as an anniversary animal, they've always been reskins with similar body types to their bases. B&w ruffed lemur was the red ruffed lemur, red deer was the fallow deer, peccary was the warthog/river hog, african leopard is the amur leopard. BUT, the african leopard has been highly requested, so I actually think this might be the strongest anniversary animal so far.

I've found hints of two more packs for Planet Zoo in the dictionary. One is centered around rainforest animals and I have no idea what the theme is for the second one. It is probably an anniversary animal pack.

The African Leopard, they said rounds off the Big 5 in Africa, and I think that's really why they wanted to add it to the game. Himalayas kindof stretch towards the middle east, with Pakistan and all... so I could see it being like "Great Asian Highlands" if they wanted to go super niche. But I definitely see more opportunity in generalizing it to Highlands. I don't see where everyone is assuming there's more packs in line. We said the exact same thing for years with PlanCo. Frontier doesn't do that. They pack their bags and go like the abusive Peter-pan syndrome ex-boyfriend in the middle of a 'ship. And they said nothing in the stream that hinted even that there was more on the horizon. While I would LOVE to see them do the last couple of packs we all seem to be hoping for (Latin America and Zookeeper Faves, with more potential niche options like Arboreal, Camoflauge, and Exhibits packs to begin with), I just don't see Frontier putting that much money towards Zoo after PC2 launches. I like Delady's idea of releasing maybe an animal pack or two a year, though, and I hope Frontier considers that. It'd be a great way to minimize cost and still keep this other side of the community level-footed for a little bit.

On the Highland pack cover art, I see the Pallas Cat as well as what appear to be both Hamadryas Baboon and Markhor. I am a little surprised they went with Hamadryas baboon instead of Geladas which are more associated with highland environments. The only highland animal I really hope is included is the Spectacled Bear.

Leaf, I'm veering towards a Highlands Animal Pack on this one. There would be a whole roster of new animals from EVERY continent from the world's highlands. The hamadryas baboon is native to both the southern Arabian Peninsula and the Horn of Africa. The markhor and the Pallas cat are both Himalayan highland animals. We COULD get the much requested Andean bear for this pack. I can also see the desert bighorn sheep being added (it is the most common bighorn sheep subspecies in zoos). An alternative would be the mountain goat. A bird HAS TO be included; this could be the golden pheasant, Himalayan monal, bar-headed goose, Temmnick's tragopan (would make for an interesting and unique mating animation), demoiselle crane, OR, hear me out, the Chilean flamingo (the most commonly represented Andean mountain flamingo species). The Matschie's tree-kangaroo would be a great representative from the highlands of Papua New Guinea, as well as being a much requested species. As much as we need more monkey representation, a fan favorite I'm not excited about is the golden snub-nosed monkey's inclusion into the game. I can also see either (or both) the klipspringer and the rock hyrax being added. I'm not a herpetologist so I wouldn't know which amphibian or reptile species could be selected for the hypothetical Highlands pack. I know the Andes does boast quite a lot of endemic frogs. I could see maybe the Lake Titicaca frog? A left field choice would also be the Hartmann's mountain zebra. I know this would be hoping for too much but wouldn't it be cool if Frontier finally gave us our first flighted bird in the form of either an Old World vulture like the Rüppell's griffon vulture or the New World's Andean condor? Or even the golden eagle? Just my thinking. I know it's the point of a teaser but they need to get on with unveiling the new DLC. I'm holding out for the next DLC bundle for console the South America Pack finally being included.

The moment the Farmyard Animal Pack came out, it came into question what they will do when the Season Pass finishes for console, because, they were only promised 14 of the DLCs beyond what the Deluxe Edition comes with which puts Eurasia Animal Pack as the 14th pack (which is likely bundled with a another DLC since they like to release them in pairs on console.) I suppose Sabor and Sheeta's subspecies from Tarzan couldn't hurt, and thankfully all of the Asian Highlands animals (from Hogle Zoo) are now confirmed for the Planet Zoo final Roster. Planet Zoo could still kill speculation, so let's hope they at least release their Secretarybirds, Howler Monkeys, Colobus, Spider Monkeys, and Tree-kangaroos sooner instead of later. Also they should release Mammoths, Thylacines, and Dinosaurs in another pack while we are still faithfully waiting for the Prehistoric Kingdom Ontogeny and Stegosaurus patches! 🐦🐒😼

honestly lots of people have been asking for aquatic animals but i don't think that would be a good addition. Having standalone or a few standalone fully aquatic species in planet zoo, would seem kinda out of place. As much as it would be cool, its just not animals that you tend to even see in zoos. To have a game similar to planet zoo that has fully aquatic creatures id just say to wait and see maybe for a Planet Aquarium game down the line.

I personally want this pack to have(but it has some of the animals already mentioned) the Pallas cat, markhor, yak, hamadryas baboon, tree kangaroo cause they also live on high elevations, the kea cause it’s the only alpine parrot and it’s cute, and the wood frog and if they do give us another pack they better give us a bird pack with shoebills and secretary birds Edit: I also want an exhibit pack where they flesh out the exhibit animal roster and give us different types of exhibits like 8-12x4x4s where we can house cobras smaller monitors like emerald green tree monitors iguanas the larger snakes like pythons and boas cause they’re too big and mesh exhibits where we can house sugar gliders and more exhibit animals like hedgehogs chameleons hamsters and more

There are 2 more animals in the background of the still with the Pallas cat, which people seem to miss. The one right behind the Markhor is 100% the Japanese Serow. The animal all the way in the back i think is the Greater Kudu, but can also be a Blackbuck. It would be a crime if we don't get either of them in the game either way.

People have been asking for it since the very beginning and because at this point its a re-skin, id rather get it for free than pay money for amur leopard 2.0. now pallas cats though, im excited for them. The African leopard is a perfect anniversary animal in a way. It's highly demanded by many people and easily recognisable to the general audience. Yet, it would be a crime to make it paid content as it's not even a different species from what we have already. Imagine the outrage if the African leopard is announced in a regular DLC.

I agree with you on the African Leopard. Blackbuck, Nile Crocodile,(as you said) Shetland pony, Perentie and such would just be better, especially the Blackbuck, it's a perfect Anniversary animal. Tamandua is in my personal opinion more suited for a DLC. I agree with you on this DLC as well. It might not be the last DLC, which gives me some hope for a future DLC :) I think either a mountains/alpine/highland pack :D

I think the African Leopard is a good free animal. But maybe not the best or most interesting release for the anniversary. It's a little generic. I would've liked to see an animal that less people know about. I'd like to see aquariums in the future. Jellyfish, starfish, and eels would make interesting exhibit species. I'd also love to just have a massive aquarium with rays. I love sea flap flaps. Aviaries would be nice too Finally: more snakes, please
