After that crash at the air show, airbus only survived due to European politics, and not due to aircraft quality. It was and will always be subpar compared to Boeing. Good and cheap is something that doesn’t exist. I have flown both Boeing and airbus and it’s pretty obvious which one is superior. And there’s a reason why some companies have custom made airbus manuals, because the original ones are of very poor quality, not user friendly at all. Boeing manuals are a joy to use, they are there to help the pilot, not to complicate his life in the worst timing possible. In case you are wondering, I am not from the USA, but Boeing will always have a place in my pilot’s heart.

Can we, perhaps, please, just for once and for the sake of celebrating lifetime acheivements (of companies and individuals alike) not get into the usual (mostly laymen-induced) bashing of aircraft manufacturers and appreciate their contributions to global flight safety, professionalism, avaition enthusiasm etc.? We're all in this together, no matter how fierce the competition. Neither Boeing nor Airbus would be where they are if the other hadn't excelled in a specific field of engineering before. Envy may be human, but it's not the best teacher in any safety-driven environment.

@@topofdescent - Not a layman here... The only contribution airbus has done to the industry, by means of an aggressive competition with lower prices and lower quality materials (have you been seated on an airbus cockpit seat? have you flown one?), was a race for sales that ended in an industry more centered in profit instead of safety, an industry that more and more puts pilots opinions on the side and rely on computers that have a tendency to act in peculiar ways, sometimes impossible to override even by the most skilled pilot. And on the passengers point of view, the pressurization system and cabin air quality in airbus airplanes is worse. If you prefer a cheaper and lower quality company, it’s your choice.

@@indy4fly You may be right in some (real and/or perceived) aspects and you may also have relevant points in your argument. I'm not denying those. Furthermore, my reply was not to judge the validity of any of your criticisms. Those should be openly examined and addressed wherever approriate.- maybe more than this has been done before. But: This one interview ist not about anything of that at all. It's about Ms. Kracht, her carreer, her feelings and some of the poignant moments of her professional life. And I deem it valuable that she is willing to share those and I enjoyed listening to her. Is she biased? Sure. But that's besides the point and was not expected to be discussed in this interview. The Busses aren't the pinnacle of human flight. It's humans that adapt to the philosiphy behind technology. Or don't. This is a big part of ensuring built-in safety features can develop their true potential and save lives. Someone said to me decades ago: "My 74 is the Cadillac: Big, easy and shiny, but those new 340s are new, stiff and underpowered like a Vokswagen, I dont't like'em. But they are safer if you know how to drive'em. Just don't tell anyone". They could get more comfy seats, though.

@@topofdescent - I did my A340 check ride on September 11, 2001, just a couple of hours after the towers were hit. Its memories will always be entwined. It’s always a joy to talk to someone that loves aviation, regardless of having different points of view. Safer flights is a common goal, and that’s what is more important, but sometimes even the greatest are left behind, like the Lockheed, who unfortunately lost the commercial aviation race. That one (L1011) was well ahead of its time. P.S.- I’m not a Volkswagen fan either😄

Ist ja schon Interessant, aber könnt ihr auch mal Jüngere Leute interviewen, irgendwie habt ihr immer nur halbe Rentner im Interview

Jüngere Leute zu interviewen ist aber nicht so interessant, denn sie haben weniger erlebt :-).

@@philaviation7623 Ok, von ihren Erlebnissen zu höhren finde ich ja auch interessant. Aber dadurch das unsere Regierung immer mehr Kooruption offenbart und fehlt entscheidungen trifft, die nicht gerade Zukunftsorrientiert sind, habe ich irgendwie mittlerweile ein Problem mit Alten leuten in Führungspositionen. Wir brauchen neuen Frischen Wind in den Segeln, und leute die nicht alle Probleme möglichst vor sich hin schieben, auf das sich die nächste Generation darum kümmern darf. Aber ich hab nicht alle Interviews gesehen, vieleicht sind hier nicht nur Führungskräfte von Firmen im Interview sondern auch einfach alte Luftfahrt Veterane die spannendes erlebt haben. Ich gebe zu, dieses Spezielle Video hab ich garnicht gesehen, ich hab nur das Bild gesehen, und bezog mich auf dieses Format im Allgemeinen.
