I had some skipping of engagement on my BSD Revolution from new, luckily I found a comment online straight away that said to make sure the nuts were nice and tight. Mine were pretty good but that tiny extra bit of tightening made all the difference.

Yo bro my bsd rev has no sound since i got it any fixed?
@JustVictor72 Жыл бұрын
@@kiikii7815 the clutch should engage the paws when rolling forward hence there should be the cassette sound. If there isn't, then I suggest that you open up the internals and check the clutch and the paws. You need to rewatch this video again. and in case you haven't, do tighten the jam nut on the drive side as Brant mentioned at 5:44. And also like Brant said, do not grease up the internals on this hub.

Incidentally, i had an epiphany this morning on planetary clutch system. I message you in IG but you haven't replied though. Coming in YT, now you have this video, it may be a sign!
@MiddleAgeBMX2 жыл бұрын
One tip with the Planetarys is that it doesn't like extremely tight chains. When I first got my BSD hub last year, it wouldn't engage and when I contacted BSD that was one of the suggestions. Sure enough once I loosened my chain from where i had it, all was good. You can keep your chain tight, just not super tight.
@Brant_Moore2 жыл бұрын
That’s a good tip, thank you!
@MiddleAgeBMX2 жыл бұрын
@@Brant_Moore The new manufactured clutch is so much better and beefier than the OG freenight. I had the freenight and had various troubles and actually wound up destroying the clutch. The only problems I have had with the BSD in the last year were fixed by loosening the chain and making sure the cone nuts are tight. The OG freenight had me replacing O-rings in the first month... People should definitely give the Revolution or the Venus a shot. Now if only there was a female axle version!
@Brant_Moore2 жыл бұрын
That’s crazy that you destroyed one. I practically tried to destroy one myself and let other people do anything they wanted with it on my bike. The hub is still just fine as a backup for me. Even so the new clutch is definitely a giant improvement for sure! Female axle could happen but only as a 3/8 version
@bmxriderforlife12342 жыл бұрын
@@MiddleAgeBMX you can buy certain female cassette axles and convert them to 3/8ths female. But I think the clutch might need a redesign to go 14mm female or driver bearing issues.

Had an idea for lubing this hub easily with no mistakes. High quality q tip like the black ones used for dabbing. Soak it in triflow. You can sponge on a little bit in just the areas you need. I can see someone accidentally putting too much lube and having to rip it apart to clean lol

If you’re intending to keep the unit dry WD40 is a wet lubricant unless you mean WD40 dry PTFE spray which goes on wet but dries leaving a PTFE coating. How do remove the ratchet ring that the pawls engage with as I can’t find anything on this.

@jordanthompson323 Жыл бұрын
Check how tight your bearings are, ie can you push them in and out with your hand.....basically the hub shell isn't manufactured to be a tight fit with the bearing, use a bearing retaining compound and re fit your bearings and tighten up the cone nuts this should fix the issue. it did with mine

I recommend never using wd-40 as a lubricant. It's more of a de-greaser & only acts as a lubricant until it evaporates, which it does fairly quickly.
@Brant_Moore2 жыл бұрын
Did not know that. It’s what was suggested by Free Night so I assume that it solves the problem enough even once evaporated
@avidgamer56762 жыл бұрын
Yeah the WD stands for water displacement, I only use wd40 to clean my bike esp after getting wet in the rain.
@bmxriderforlife12342 жыл бұрын
Yup. It's also designed to leave a thin film behind if you don't disturb it. The film acts as a rust inhibitor but it's fairly delicate Wd in wd 40 stands for weapons defense. 40 stands for the recipe iteration. Was originally used to protect missiles. It also usually contains little bits of metal in it. Triflow is gold.

Agree. It's an anti-rust and de-greaser, but I also used to think it was okay as a lubricant. Common misconception.
