Yeh, hope you dont mind, I did post your vids up on the PS2 forums @ the start of the year. You put a lot of thought/effort into the vids and it highlighted the gulf between the two games; It takes hours to describe PS1 in depth, where as PS2 can be summed up as a 'Futuristic BF3 with large maps and 3 factions'. Not here to split hairs, BF3 is itself an amalgamation of popular games with a focus on the console/casual/child gamer.

Very cool! It's a shame I missed such an opportunity! When PS1 was more popular gms converted entire squads of people into black ops troops and those rare nights that it happened were always loads of fun. My main NC character actually has a "custom" merit that I got from a gm, there's a long story behind that one but it involved black ops. I'm happy you got to experience it at least :).

Hey legendary narwhal really enjoyed your planetside 1 videos, it was very informative. Eagerly waiting for your video to compare the two games, having never played planetside 1 I would love to know what made planetside 1 so good compared to the BF3 mmo we have now.

hey just came across your videos. As a Planetside 2 player (no PS1 experience), I found your base ramblings/general overview video fascinating. It did get me thinking. The way you describe the mechanics is actually pretty clear and concise. Would you be able to show us various features/processes/mechanics from PS1 that you wished existed in PS2 in a future video?

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I will be making that video soonish, I just need some time to go back and play PS2 for a bit. Even though I don't like it as much AND am slightly biased against it, it wouldn't be right of me to compare the two if I don't have the game experience to make the comparison fair.

I have seen its concept on the roadmap forums and all I can say is that at least they are TRYING to implement some sort of direction for the game. Even if they can't have to balls to say they were wrong about their hex idea. Notice they very much refrain from using the words "lattice system".

Haven't done much PS1 lately, and haven't recorded anything since what feels like the beginning of time. I'm all done with college now, which is why I stopped uploading. So hopefully I can save up some money for proper editing software soon and get back into things. I'm sure I'll give PS1 another bash so I will keep you all posted!

Yea I was NEVER aware that that was happening but it's super cool. The whole reason to make this content is for either entertainment or information so I'm very glad that it seems to all be working as intended!

Hey Narwahl. It's nice seeing your base video getting posted time and time again on the PS2 official forums, reddit, and the old PS2 beta forums. Can't believe you weren't aware of that for a time! I am subbed to PS1 right now as wonderbrah409 but barely anyone plays it anymore. The game is going free to play before June according to Smedly. Hope he stays true to his word honestly because Ps2 is a pile of turd and devs want nothing to do with PS2.

my main complaint with PS2 atm is that it feels too shallow. if only they included extra levels of depth like hacking/viruses/continent locking etc

Yes sadly I think it still does need a subscription, all I can say is I hope smedley keeps his word and makes it F2P soon. They've been saying they would since forever ago.

Narwhal! There was a GM on PS1 last night! He/she sent meteorites down, made someone a black ops and gave us all fusion blades!!! I made a thread about in on PlanetSide Universe forums under PS1 sub-section, with pictures! This can only mean good things for the future. They are probably preparing for ps2 membership to include ps1 access or ps1 free to play.

I would play Planetside ftw if only it was F2P. Paying full price per month for a 10 year old game doesn't seem all too fair to me, but I guess paying and playing is the only way to express our desire to keep PS1 allive. Feels like Mr. $medley has me in a headlock >_

When I say it is a battlefield/CoD clone what I essentially mean is just that: it is a brainless omgzergenemybase game. Yes, they are going with what has been "popular" b/c like most companies they want money. I cannot speak for what gameplay in CoD and battlefield is like recently or in the past since I have never been a big CoD or BF player myself.

I too want to play PS1 again, I currently have an account that should last for a few more weeks. It's really hard to find anyone else playing the game though, does any one know roughly what time people are actually playing it?

Let's get one thing straight, the problem with PS2 isn't that it copied Battlefield (in general), the problem with PS2 is that it, in certain ways, tried to be like Battlefied 3 (which copied CoD) or even CoD itself. SOE by no means focused on implementing the best things of all first person shooters in the history, they focused on implementing shit that has been popular recently because of casual gamers that like mindless run'n'gun.

Oh man. I know PS2 isnt enjoyable for you. But damn seeing that Interstellar Map, doesnt look like PS1 will be much fun for you either. That was a lot of purple. I doubt there is a lot of activity.

PS1 is much better, better tactical options and better strategic options. I played PS1 from release until shutdown. The only criticism of PS1 was BFR's, they ruined the game.

i totaly agree with you TheLegendary Narwhal PS2 really dose suck i remmeber PS1 back in starting days hell even beta was great sucks thay thay droped so much for PS2 latice ants and tons other things that made game what it was in favour of cod and BF3 nock off hands down id take PS1 any day of the year

Oh all of my views are most certainly comparing PS1 to PS2. I don't want people to misunderstand me, when I started playing PS2 I was "expecting" a better PS1. With the game being so different, at least at the moment, I don't enjoy it at all. I played the original for roughly 7 years, I am very much biased with my opinions.
