I run pretty much everything on Ultra except for shadows (Low). Most fights run well enough to not impact gameplay. Ryzen 7 3700X / AMD Radeon 5700 XT.

I just upgrade my ryzen 1600 to a i7 10700, holy crap, i went from low/med settings big fights can dip into the low 40s, on avg I get around 90-110. Now I get 130+ FPS, on ultra no shadows, lowest dips are 90s. And this still on my same rx 570 4gb. Crazy how much this game relys on a strong single threaded cpu. And can’t believe how nice this game looks when you up the settings

whats your motherboard? im planning on upgrading to an i3 10105f from my i5 4590 and my future upgrade will be either getting the i5 10600 or i7 10700f like you. But im not sure whether the motherboard that i will be buying (asus prime b460m a) is going to be able to handle the i7 well. Btw i also have the rx 570 4gb lmao this card is a beast for its price when i bought it before the GPU price crysis

I normally run potato but every once in a while if I'm just casually playing and listening to music I'll turn the graphics, effects, lighting etc. to Ultra. Except shadows. Fuck shadows.

It would be interesting to see the performance test of the settings on ultra with a resolution scale of 1.41 (edited in the .ini file) and competitive settings to see if it balances out the usage of CPU and GPU, great vid btw I am playing on your competitive settings now :D

Oh yes good idea! The thing is, if I understand correctly, 1.41 resolution scale is effectively pushing the game to render at 4K when you have a 1080p monitor, but since I play on 1440p, if I use the same resolution scale, it would render the game at a much higher res than 4K ^^ By any chance if you know the right value to render at 4K, I'll test it and let you know :)

On your potato settings you have Terrain Quality at high, is this just so it looks nice or did you find it improved performance?

i5-9600k oc'd to 4.8ghz, rtx 3080, and 4000mhz ddr4 ram. Im used to playing on competitive settings, but with this setup i've found a sort of hybrid between the game looking good but not too flashy, while retaining performance. So usually around 120fps most fights. As you said, ultra settings does seem to impact input latency so its not really worth the extra eye candy imo.

If I am not mistaken I have same set up as you do. Play with everything on Ultra. Only come to regret it when there are explosions everywhere and I cant see shit :D

On console called PS4 is perfect with the graphic ingame but except for fps and game crash. In big fight I get around 20 to 30 fps and I noticed some bases in hossin affected my fps a lot even it's a small fight. I have to deal with game crash by closing the application and start it up again. I've seen PS5 video test on planetside 2 and its a huge improvement. 60+ fps and runs very well on big fight but heard the annoying game crash still there

I read on some reddit post that PS2 has native high particles setting, so lowering particles setting will actually slow the computer down. (since it needs to work extra hard to display lower graphics) Seems counter-intuitive, but it's PS2, so anything is possible I guess...lol. Have you heard of something like this?

It's the case with textures but not with particles. High particles do reduce performance

i7-7700k GTX 1060 6GB 8 GB DDR4 I play with potato settings. At TI Alloys I get ca. 60 fps. Its playable but walljumps are difficult. The server lagg is the most annoying thing :(

@@LadyBaggins Well, if you're happy with your current performance, then you don't need to increase the core clocks. You can keep the same clock that your motherboard was giving you in this video and then decrease the voltage a bit. Motherboards usually apply too much voltage on automatic overclocks, so you could make your CPU run cooler and increase its lifespan this way.

It's actually gotten worse for me over the years. Used to be I could push Ultra with a 1080p setup and still get 120fps . Old PC maxed out from 2015 using a i7 4790k with an OC of 4.4ghz and a GTX 980 Ti now pushes 45-90fps in moderately populated fights with random fps drops. I also used to be GPU limited until some update they did back in 2018 caused me to be permanently CPU limited.

yea some people were negatively affected by the updates they implemented. Maybe you can try changing the cpu thermal paste and also cleaning the case and fans in your pc to make it cooler, perhaps another reason why you get performance loss is because your CPU is thermal throttling.

It's still far away from real potato with lighting on low instead of off and render quality on 100%. Also with some gpu tweaking, you can massively reduce input lag.

I understand, but to me competitive settings aim more towards a clearer and better performing game than performances at all cost. When you drop the render quality the game becomes noticeably blurrier.

(And not struggling with kills!) Getting good frames too even in large battles. Might do potato if i participate in Outfit Wars though.
