Thanks so much for this video! Sooooooo useful! I got one of these tab punchboards at Tuesday Morning and the instructions that came with it were confusing enough just trying to make 3 tabs for my personal planner - now I have 5! Thanks so much!

On a tight budget right now so won't buy these tools but this is is an awesome project, similar to idea I've been gradually dreaming up! Now I'll look up if punch board or cardstock or what are easily enough able to cut with scissors. Cause my vision is something cheap but strong I can cut easily with scissors and punch holes in. I looked up what hole punchers are stronger than normal and learned Croc a Dile is very popular so am thinking that's worth the money for me. As for decoration, thinking I can get very plain material for now then cut and glue on pretty papers later optionally to one or both sides if I want but do without for now to save money. As for what to write the labels with, I need to be able to easily replace them if needed, so am thinking either stickers (so far Staples label stickers just smear even with Sharpie and even after drying a long time, grr!), a label maker (that pushes my budget though), or washi tape with some pen that actually writes on washi tape.

Awesome tutorial! Thank you! I've been on the fence about getting this punch board.. one of the things that "bother" me a little is that the tabs protrude too much. Is there a way to only have one curved edge instead of it having two scallops?
@TessaBuys
@TessaBuys 7 жыл бұрын
I thought the same thing about the tabs when I first used the punch, but once my dividers were set up in my planner and I shut my planner, I saw they were a perfect fit. Plus, there's more room for labeling. If you do prefer a shorter tab, I have used my paper trimmer or scissors and cut off a quarter inch. The scallops on each edge are part of the punch, though. I'm not sure there's a way to leave them off. But they do help support the tabs. I've had straight edge tabs rip or bend from use, and the scallop design seems to keep that at bay. I hope that helps!

Thanks for your video! Can you tell me why you used a 4x4 piece of paper for the hack?
@TessaBuys
@TessaBuys 7 жыл бұрын
I chose 4x4 because I had a piece of cardstock nearby that size. As long as your piece of paper is in whole inches that can line up with the marks to the left of the punch on the tool, it doesn't matter what size it is. Originally, I figured this out on a 7 inch long piece of paper, and that worked great. The steps are the same :).

Hi Tina! Thanks for watching! I am glad that you have found the envelope tool to be so useful. That's wonderful! Crafters are creative people, and we all have our favorite tools and techniques. If the envelope tool is meeting all your needs, awesome! I have one too, and I'm still really excited about the Tab Punch Board. I'm glad we have so many options :).

I don't undersrand what the sharpie marks onbthe board are for, I didn't see you use them.
@TessaBuys
@TessaBuys 7 жыл бұрын
Hello! Basically, the sharpie lines act as a guide to show you where the center of a small, medium and large tab is. Knowing this, you can create a tab wherever you want without having to use the etched guidelines that come on the tool. You would only find the sharpie lines useful if you wanted to evenly space tabs on papers measuring in increments other than whole inches. I use the marks when I make the center and off-center tabbed pages. You might not catch that I use the first sharpie mark because it also lines up with the edge of the Punch (for small tabs). If I were making medium tabs, I would have lined up with my middle sharpie mark. If I were making large tabs, I would have lined up with the farthest right sharpie mark. Please let me know if you have any more questions :).

Hi Stevie! Thank you for watching. If you have a simpler way to center tabs made with this punch board in a personal size planner, please share! I’d love to know :). Of course, you don’t have to have centered tabs in your planner and this board can easily make a series of tabs that will still fit and be perfectly functional.

I so agree...I believe that's why they have the numbers off to the left side of the board...depending how many tabs/dividers you want to make and what size
