Best tip is to bring a portable foldable step/stool available in Aldi and most other places. It's light to carry around and means that you can see the track over everyone's heads. Brilliant for photos too!

Thank you. I'll be there again myself this year, all 4 days, camping this year as this is now an option that I wasn't aware of when I made this video. Hopefully you've managed to secure your tickets and a place to stay (assuming you're not local). Enjoy!

Could you make an updated video for 2024? Thinking of going for the first time okay with standing each day but want to save as much money as possible with being able to see all the cars and time trials!

I would highly recommend taking a radio with you to be able to tune in to the commentary from anywhere around the site. They do come with the program guide but then you have to pay for the program 😆. Bring your own little radio. Best option.

Great content!! Planning to go next year, only have 2 days available...I am more into contemplating than watching the races, not very fan of crowds... Which days do you think would be my best option
@limitedinsight
@limitedinsight Жыл бұрын
Hi Jorge, I'm with you on that. I tend to avoid the crowds, much better and more relaxed to see stuff when there aren't 100s of people in your way. Typically I would avoid the Thursday as last time I went I was surprised at just how busy it was. Sundays are all about the shootout and are the busiest so I would avoid that if you're not into the track stuff. So fri/sat would be the beat combo. Get there early and stay late, that way you can experience at the start and end when it's quite. At all other times you can generally avoid the crowds if you're clever about it. When you arrive, head as far away from the carparks as possible as most will meander as soon as they get in. If something gets started up in a paddock everyone will flock to it, so head to another row of cars if you don't like the crowds. Generally though it's not that bad as it's a huge place. If you like to contemplate though your favourite time will be after 4pm when you can access cars much easier, especially in places like the style e luxe lawn

@motorshedsteve
@motorshedsteve Жыл бұрын
@@jorgeivanvelezaguilar1531 depends where you are staying. If you stay on the campsite there are shuttle buses taking you in to the event. If you're staying at a nearby hotel, b&b or holiday park you'll need a car. Best to sort your accommodation very early since it becomes very difficult to find anywhere suitable for sensible money.

Great video! Thank you! gives us an idea for our first goodwood FOS 2020.. unfortunately (fortunately) we got tics for EURO 2020 finals on sunday so we only have Friday (intentionally chose friday to be with less people) I know you recommended more than a day, but... if you have one day how would you go about and break your day? (missus loves F1)
@motorshedsteve
@motorshedsteve 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sanggi, thanks for the feedback. I went on all days except sunday this year. It was incredibly busy every day, I think the event has certainly gained popularity. Friday is just as good as any other day. The main day Sunday only has the shootout over all other days, so you'll still have a great time. If you love F1, you will want to visit the F1 paddock for sure, I would advise to head there after they have been out on track, so watch them on track by the main house then head over to the paddock for them returning to their garages as the experience of being so close to legendary F1 cars while running is exhilarating. If I was just doing 1 day I would forget the rally stage as takes a while to get up there and it's not all that great. The supercar paddock is a must to see all the latest stuff, then the style et luxe lawn next to the main house is always great, and the rolls Royce and bmw stands behind it. I wouldn't waste too much time round the trade stands unless you are looking to pick up a nice jacket or tshirt or memorabilia, as there is so much great stuff to get round. There is a drift arena now which was new for this year, that was good too if that floats your boat. However you end up tackling it you can't really go wrong, you'll get distracted by stuff and naturally find your own flow anyway. Hope that helps you, and thanks for watching.

@@motorshedsteve Thank you so much for the through reply! the tip of skipping rally might save the day.. how about the upper paddock? we heard its worth to visit as drivers are more relaxed while waiting to drive down again.. then we can have photo/sign opportunity.. Also, we observed that there are two parking spots if were coming from the North (west and east) any tips which one is better? Watching F1 paddock with the engineers prepping is one of the must for us :) thanks!

I’m going on Saturday this year, what times do all the events occur, I’m planning on watching the hill climb and the rally if it’s on
@motorshedsteve
@motorshedsteve Жыл бұрын
The rally stage is a fair distance away from everything else. If you're only going for 1 day I wouldn't recommend it as it will eat into your day a lot and there are better things to see. I will be doing the rally stage but only because I'm doing 4 days. There will be a full schedule of activity all day for track and rally. Download the app to get a heads up on what will be running and when so you can organise your day. I love being in the paddocks when stuff is returning from or heading out to track, very exciting to be so close to that and nowhere else where you can experience that. Enjoy.

3 months away and tickets are still on sale, that's a bit unusual. planning to stay in Portsmouth, everywhere near the circuit is too damn expensive.
@motorshedsteve
@motorshedsteve 2 жыл бұрын
A lot of people tend to go on more of a whim, so it's not totally surprising. I did notice however that the electric camping spots filled up quickly. I'm not going this year as I couldn't commit when tickets were first released and by the time I could there was no accommodation available. I used to travel in from Portsmouth or Southampton but got sick of the traffic every morning to get into the event. Its loads more chilled if you camp, because you don't encounter the huge queues. If I really wanted to go this year I could though but considering the war and corona its likely a lot of the usual crowd won't be attending along with the cars that would normally have been shipped over to join. Last year felt a little underwhelming compared to normal, corona had clearly hit planning

@@motorshedsteve I managed to find an air BnB 5 mins away from the track for cheap! Really excited, there has been a lot of hype over the past few weeks for this years event, it’s my first so hopefully it’ll be good. A lot of heat coming from BMW, lots of F1 teams attending this year as well. Looking forward to it.

If you're just wanting to go for 1 day it depends on what's important to you about the event. Thursday is best if you're into new car reveals. Sunday is best if you're about the track action as the shootout is only on Sunday. Friday is probably the quietest day, and Saturday is almost sold out already this year so seems to be the most popular day. If you're hoping to see celebs, the weekend is best. I personally like whichever day has the sunniest weather 😂
