The best resource for making shirts I have ever found is David Coffin's book, "Shirtmaking". Just brilliant. Made two using the book at my elbow, and no one understood why I had cut the labels out of the shirts I made for a boyfriend, it looked that professional:-). I did them on my old Singer Stylist 538, which was not the greatest machine, and had never been serviced, and they still came out that well. Can't recommend that book highly enough.

Sounds like you’d like the burda 6462 coat, I’m currently making it with a TON of alterations (I wanted a fitted back with a vent and I need an FBA and a straight narrow shoulder adjustment, last min decided to make it double breasted, a 3 toile-er) the vent alteration is super easy and it has wrist ties, welt pockets and this inner neck cosy thing that might make up for it not closing up but keep that nice open collar look. I was also looking at the traveler coat or the fibremood hunter coat and settled on this one instead.

Check out the Field Day Cardigan by Ozetta Knits! it's a super interesting construction with basically no seaming, and even the button band is knit at the same time as the body, so no picking up a million stitches at the end. I finished it last spring and it got so much wear in the summer on cool nights and then as a mid-layer in the winter. Honestly tempted to make a second one...

I love knitting cardigans. I am currently knitting the Elah cardigan from Isabell Kraemer. I just completed the comfort fade Cardigan from Andrea Mowry. You can also look at cardigans knitted in the round that you can steek

I am also planning to make a versatile slip dress this year and found Jess from 'So What If I Sew' to have a great battle of the slip dresses series. She compares the Saltwater, Jessica and Sicily slip dresses and really goes in depth about the pros and cons of each pattern and the resulting garment. I know you made the Saltwater slip so it could be good to have the comparison of the other two to see if they are a better fit.

Hello Cassie! Thank you for sharing your making-goals. I bought the Traveller Coat pattern about a year ago now and still haven't sewn it up, I feel like this is the year for me. Hope you manage to find your ideal coat pattern! Maybe worth looking into Big-4 patterns because they have a lot of coat options. Regarding the cardigan - I did the Seasons cardigan by Ozetta, well it's a WIP because it got a little tedious...but it was an easy knit because it's top down, flat, which is easier to get your head around I think? Also there are cardigans that you knit together in the round and then CUT OPEN?! **Traumatised face** but yes that is another option. Good luck!

Ahh so fun! I also love sewing planning videos and I just posted my make 9 video as well! 🙌 I’m very excited to see your railroad stripe overalls come to life 🤞I can already picture how beautiful they’ll be. And yes please to 52 videos! I know we’d all love to see more of you on here if you have the time this year ✨

I am finishing up the button holes on the champagne cardigan as I am listening to your video! I get that mental block every time I want to make something new to me. This cardigan is not very hard, and does have some challenging details to make it more interesting. Petite knit has videos for the Italian bind off and button band. I just need to make sure I am only doing one new challenging project at a time so I can focus on the thing that feels intimidating.

A knitted cardigan was the first clothing item I ever made and it was super easy. I made the ballerina wrap top by two of wands (free pattern). It was very easy and turned out great.

Great goals - as a new viewer I'd love if the images that popped up on screen stayed up a bit longer, or if there were more images for what you reference as I don't know most of them.

I'm making Lumme this year too! I've dabbled in color work, but this feels like it's going to be such a solid project to really build confidence. I'm stoked to see which yarn you choose!

Yey - we have some plans in common. I also want to make a coat for next winter (no pattern in mine yet though I do love the Traveller Coat) and I'm making the Cameron button up in a linen for my partner. And I also want to make jeans/pants - I bought the Adams Pant by Daughter Judy Patterns. I just made a pair of handpainted culottes - so I might print or paint some fabric for the pants aswell. Looking forward to your videos this year!

Hi Cassie! So glad you're making more videos this week! I have watched so much of your content it's a bit ridiculous. :D Regarding cardigans--I find them not to be too much more of a challenge than knitting a regular sweater. They CAN definitely be more challenging because they often have more pieces and finishings like buttons, panels, and edging. I've also found however that if you are decent at making sweaters you can be just as decent at making cardigans! Many cardigan patterns can be worked all in one piece, especially if they are a top-down, raglan style and you can divide off the sleeves when you're done increasing for them. Right now I'm working on the Monica cardigan by Sanne Bjerregaard--it's free on Ravelry! It's a top-down raglan style with some lovely cabled sleeves. I am really enjoying knitting it because I'm using 2 strands of yarn which makes it pretty quick to make, and the cables add a nice touch without being an overwhelming design choice. I hope you find what you're looking for with ALL of these patterns!!

Cardigans do not have to be knit flat. Come over to the dark side (we have cookies) and steek your cardigan. Its harder to do mentally than in reality. After all the Scandinavians have been doing them for centuries!

I would love to try this technique but but few patterns use it... I don't know if you can do it when the hem neck is knitted at the same time

Saying the gender neutral shirt is for men and women is a bit misleading - it seems to be for all genders, not just these two. :)
