Thank you so much for including us in your wedding planning and such a sweet story of why it’s Sarah’s happy place. I hope we get to see a picture of you both on your wedding day if it’s not too intrusive. 😀❤️😀

Seville is so beautiful, it looks like somewhere out of a Disney movie! The bottom half of the clock tower in Seville has this Islamic design to it and was used for the call to prayer when it is was a mosque. The Moors were Muslim and they ruled Spain and Portugal in the 8th Century hence the Islamic architecture in many places (Seville, Cordoba, Grenada)

During the Arabian Umayyad Empire - which originated in the Arabian Peninsula and the Levant with Damascus as the capital- the empire expanded from the far east till the North African region. In 711 CE the expansion extended to the Iberian peninsula (Spain and Portugal). Since North Africa is geographically the closest and was then part of the Umayyad empire, the Umayyad army (consisting of Arabs and North Africans) entered through Ceuta in Morocco to the south of Spain. Which was occupied for two centuries by the Visigoths (nomadic Germanic tribes that were banished from the Roman Empire). Al Andalus was then part of the Umayyad empire and Arabs from all around the Levant and the Arabian peninsula came to settle in the new state. It expanded all the way to France! This empire reigned for 800 years over many phases, and then it started shrinking, and with the massacre of the Spanish Inquisition, it completely vanished. An important thing to note: Moor doesn’t come from the word Morocco, in fact, it has nothing to do with Morocco. It comes from the word Mauretania. Which originated - in reference to the Andalusian - during the Spanish Inquisition. Because the Catholic Church and the Monarchs at the time were extremely brutal with their ethnic cleansing, and so to make the people support this brutality they made sure to dissociate the people from the land (this is of course ridiculous as the Arabian empire lasted 800 years which is more than the current one, having only 500 years so far. So there's no logic in their argument, the Spanish Inquisition was based on pure racism). The right word to use here is the Arabs, not the Moors because it was an Arabian empire in every sense. In terms of culture, language, main ethnicity, and ruling - with Islam being the main religion. Of course, there were other ethnic groups and other religions, like the Amazigh of North Africa and the Andalusian Jews (both were the largest minorities) because it was a tolerable state since equality was of high importance to the Arabian and Islamic culture.
