You look so much healthier and happier now than in the video 2 years ago. And also although you are the same determined and hardworking person, like you said, you reasons changed for the better and I feel like you do it for yourself now than for society's acceptance. Hope I feel and do the same in the near future. Lots of love 💖

Being an overthinking person, often I find myself lost. Watching you over the years and the way you progressed and your mindful thinking is honestly incredible to see. I personally suffered a lot from anxiety. Now when I look back I can exactly tell why i was doing what I was doing... And how do I improve. Watching you grow and be healthier and the way you are so much happier for yourself.... I really feel so happy for you. Also, you are really cute ❤️

It’s so refreshing to hear your comments about a PhD being the “next logical step” but just knowing that it’s not the choice for you! I was in a similar situation a few years ago after my research Honours year here in Aus - I had a gap year to work and travel, and there was a little niggly unhappy voice in the back of my head that I ignored, and I came back and started a PhD anyway. Flash forward about 18 months in, I transferred to a Masters because I finally realised I wasn’t happy. Flash forward another two years and I’m retraining as a teacher 😂 Long story short listen to your intuition and follow your passions!

So similar to my own experience! I came to Sydney for a Masters in Medieval Lit and I had my PhD application in but I didn’t love my topic so I ended up doing an MTeach instead. I’m now in my 2nd year of teaching secondary English and I love it!!

There's something SO refreshing about watching you say "oh yep, another thing that didn't happen" throughout the video but STILL coming away with a successful tutoring business, a masters degree and improved health. It really shows that things don't have to go 100% to plan for you to thrive. Thank you for showing this, and congratulations on your success over the past 2 years!

Wow, I've been watching some of your videos over the past one or 2 years because I liked you as a person, but I never realised how much I relate to you from an academic/interest kind of view. I´m about to start my second year of uni studying biology (in Gemany). While I am super interested in the subject itself and enjoy learning about biology very much I never wanted to be a researcher. I am much more interested in doing something more diverse, where I can be creative and share my fascination with others. Somehow this always made me feel like I might me studying the wrong subject, as biology at uni is often focused heavily on research, laboratory work, phds and future careers. Thank you for showing my that it is perfectly fine to choose a different path and that my reasons to study biology are just as valid as everybody elses.

Well I clicked on this video the time when I am just feeling low about my academic performance.I gave a drop this year and you know what Holly all the good things are happening in life.I sat for so many exams and every exam turned out negative.I am just mentally depressed I am literally no where .Every path is blocked for me .All my school friends are in good colleges and I am just a terrible failure.I have heard that people who hardwork ,they can achieve a lot of things but then what happened with me I gave all my best but why did the things did not go the way I wanted . Its literally frustuating and I have given up on myself.Your video did calm me for a bit.Thanks.

You said 'I only have a Bachelors and Masters Degree'. There is no only in that sentence. You HAVE a BSc and MSc. That is a valid and great set of qualifications. As someone whose job is all about supporting people through their doctorates I would say 1) the thing that keeps you going through the ups and downs of a doctorate is the desire to get a doctorate. 2) never say never, if you change your mind that is okay. The oldest graduating PhD student from my uni was 83. 3) you don't need a doctorate to communicate science, in fact some times it gets in the way. I am looking forward hearing more of your science coms, you inspire me.

I'm a master's student and what you say really resonates with me right now. For the past few years, PhD was my vague ultimate goal and people around me also started to think I would go down that path. But now especially since starting my master's, I am more certain that even though I would enjoy parts of a PhD, focusing on one thing for four years isn't something I would truly enjoy.
