I have an existing WordPress blog but want to add woo commerce to sell items. My theme is not compatible. Can I create a shop.com subdomain with a compatible woo commerce theme without interfering with my existing WordPress site? I appreciate your feedback!

How about a theme that is compatable with WOOCommerce? When you search for WooCommerce in the lower right corner it says "Compatible with your version of WordPress". Is that the same as your theme being compatible with your theme?

"Compatible with your version of WordPress" means just that. WooCommerce is an additional plugin that may or may not work with with your theme. Check the WooCommerce documentation for more info on theme compatibility. You'll find some tips you can use to make a non-compatible theme compatible. docs.woocommerce.com/document/third-party-custom-theme-compatibility/

i did what you said and added a subdomain thanks i have spent the last 4 hrs trying to find how to add the sub domain how can you do it

Setup the subdomain through your web host's control panel. Or contact your web host's support team for information on how to proceed.

setting up a subdomain is easy you try to integrate it to your main domain!

The subdomain is an extension of your main domain, but will act as a standalone website. When you setup a sub domain in WordPress, you install a new version of WordPress on that subdomain. You are essentially creating a new website. You can link between the two the same way you would link to any website. On your main site you would add a menu item with a custom link to "shop.yourdomain.com"

​@@nigtturner Sorry, I don't have enough information about the problem you're experiencing to offer specific advice. Some things to test: 1) Can you access your main site and the new subdomain site through a browser (if not, there's a problem with setup, possibly with DNS, possibly something with Hostgator). 2) Assuming you can access both sites, can you login to each? Remember, you have two different installations, so it's probable that you have different logins for each.

I was expecting to go to the corse and see how this was done but no all this video has done has caused me a world of pain I have been told what you are suggesting can't be done and as you have not replied to my request as to how it is done I think they might possibly be right.

@@WPApprentice yes I built a subdomain with wordpress storefront and woocommerce. i asked hostgator to help me integrate it into my main domain all they have manage to do is mess up both my web sites and tell me that what I am trying to do cant be done if there is a way please point me in the right direction

@@nigtturner See my reply to you below. You have two WordPress sites. One on your main domain and one on your subdomain. The "integration" is a simple link between the two. You can accomplish that with the menu builder. Use the custom link option and link to your shop subdomain.
