Plant 96
• In 1958, work began on the top secret mountain facility, which was ready for use in December 1960.
• Plant 96 could protect up to two hunter squares by a nuclear attack on Bodø's main aircraft station.
• With a floor area of over 8000 square meters, it is the largest mountain hangar in Norway.
• Consists of two large mountain halls of over 200 meters, protected by 20-25 meters of mountains. The plant is gas and airtight, with its own electricity and water supply.
• Was closed for operational service in 1995. Today used by the Armed Forces as a warehouse and for training in urban warfare.
• One hall is used by the Air Museum in Bodø for storing old museum aircraft. They hope to have the facility protected as a museum of the Cold War.
