This is so refreshing! You see so many KZbinrs with all these plants and they don’t really talk about the maintenance and, that it’s OK to get rid of a plant if it’s not serving you or it’s not growing well for you! Thank you for doing this video.

Honestly Harli I really appreciate videos like this so much. They're so realistic and relatable and I feel like we don't talk about/show this stuff enough in the plant community. I've been feeling so down recently while doing plant chores cause of all the problems I'm unearthing (😉) when I repot, so it's helpful to get a friendly reminder and example that it's just a part of the hobby. And that it can feel so good and freeing after! Anyway just thanks! ❤️

I’m ready to downsize my collection too. It’s taken so much of my time to keep up with watering etc. I’ve put some outside that are struggling so they can have one last hurrah before the snow will come this winter. If they decide to take a turn and get big and healthy while outside I’ll rehome them in the fall. 😊

Keeping plants is supposed to be a pleasure not a chore, I got rid of over 40 of my plants a few weeks ago bringing the number I own down to around 80. I’ve got plants in my collection that are going to get pretty big and those plants give me the most enjoyment therefore it was time to make that decision. I’m happy with my decision and am also enjoying caring for my remaining plants a lot more

Thank you for normalizing plant decluttering! I’ve been going through it too. I love propagating my monstera plants and watching the roots grow! But then I end up with 4 giant monstera plants. So rehoming them has been so cleansing for me. My 2 anthuriums showed signs of spider mites on one and thrips on the other! In the trash they went. (I don’t have the motivation to deal!) Cuttings that I’ve propagating were trashed because I don’t have any plans to pot them up. I feel lighter already! More to go!

Thank you for this video. I was feeling overwhelmed with my 200+ plants in my covered patio (I Iive in Florida) I mainly have Hoyas and a few Aroids. Well we decided to paint the patio (against my wishes) and naturally we had to move them outside (thank God I put my favorites inside the house) well living in sunny Florida most of them burned to a crisp. I was able to salvage some of them but I felt horrible. I had wanted to declutter but couldn’t get myself to do it so subconsciously I sent them out to fry. I felt so guilty but watching your video I feel much better if that makes any sense 😢

Plants should make our heart feel light! It’s ok to let them go if they don’t. I’m also beginning to think mealybugs play an important role. They appear to let us know the plant is struggling. Sometimes we can help, sometimes we can’t. I ❤your rehabbing or parting ways with videos. 🙏🏼

I was going to say spray your leaves with a combination of dish soap, white vinegar, and water and then you dumped your Hoya cuts into white vinegar and water. I find this treatment works perfectly on mealybugs and any time I see any of my plants I take them to the sink and spray the entire plant and the soil with the combination. Leave it for half an hour and then rinse off. Nearly bugs are gone don’t come back. I got a few nearly bugs in my apartment when I brought home a rescue plant from Bunnings, a big box plant store here in Australia. FYI, I use that same combination of dish soap, white vinegar and water to clean around my house.

Lol On the other hand, I see people get upset and throwing plants in the garbage, I personally don’t, if it’s not doing well I don’t want to give them away, and if they were common cheapies, it doesn’t matter I can always get another if I want, so into the compost they go, to help fertilize my outdoor garden plants!
