Hello Stephen Ryan: thank you for answering our question on water and propagation. We can’t believe we didn’t advise our location. Question: do you have any tips on germinating bamboo seeds? We purchased Giant Atter Bamboo Seeds and Fargesia/Borinda Papyrifera seeds but they will not sprout. Thank you again Pat and Dan Kerr Bruce Mines, Ontario, Canada.

Bamboo seed usually germinates freely without any specific treatments quite easily as long as it is fresh. Regards Stephen

Given that several species of cussonia are present in the garden, and possibly pollinated by insects, did they get any Cussonia hybrids as well? I would like to see pictures if that did happen.

As far as I know no hybrid plants seem to have arisen. Regards Stephen

I wonder if I saw these at the Ruth Bancroft botanical gardens near San Francisco California...??? My guess is they would have a climate conducive for these trees and they look like the trees I saw there but I just wasn't familiar with the trees when I visited in 2020.

It depends on which Irises you are growing but if they don’t usually flower now it will be weather related and not something you can control or need to worry about. Regards Stephen

I wouldn’t eat any part of Cussonia . Many of its relatives are toxic.Regards Stephen
