Wow, I saw that phal gigantea in the morning (the vendor was also willing to sell it for $30 as well), but when I checked the booth later it was already gone 😅. So glad you bought it, it’s in good hands! Yes, $30 CAD is an absolute steal for what’s essentially an adult-sized plant (the ones at Ten Shin were a third of the size), and for a species that’s a slow grower as well! Will be eagerly waiting to see any updates on this plant!

So far she’s doing great. I soaked the roots and potted her up, so I’m planning to do an update video for the weekend. Although the event was very crowded, I was so happy to see that there was a great turn out. Thanks for watching 🤗

Went for the first time and it will be my last. It was so busy and unorganized. The only vendor with a visible sign was Crystal Star Nursery. Waited 40 min in the ecuagenera line for pre order pickup.

I went today (sunday). Waited 20 minutes in the lineup just to get the parking ticket to put in the car window. Machine took my money but the button to confirm payment wouldn't work so the man behind me tried to help but to no avail. I gave up & left without getting Into the show. By this time cars were driving up & down just looking for a parking spots. Maybe I'll have better luck next year. Glad you made your lovely haul.

This time it was crazy!!!! So packed like sardines. Parking was a hot mess, the lines inside were a lil confusing due to overcrowd. Couldnt get close to tables, either had to wait n nicely shimmy in and unleash the orchid fiend monster n get a lil stronger w getting a front spot to check out the plants. This time they had 2 rooms for vendors since last times room for all the vendors was the exhibition but even w 2 rooms it was still crowded. I walked away w just 1 plant from this side of paradise.

I arrived 45 minutes early and they had a small crowd starting together. Getting to the tables was very challenging. The ecuagenera pre-order pick up line was a disaster, I felt sorry for those people. Congrats on your new plant. This side of Paradise had some beautiful orchids.

While I was there fighting my way in I over heard a discussion w a lady that didnt sound pleasant xD Thank u, this side of paradise never disappoints. Both drew n Jackie are wonderful ppl. Grats on ur finds too, and good luck w that gigantea, it looks like it needs love. U know I was looking for vanilla and saw zero, so after watching ur video it explains why I found none.

The crowd on Sunday was better after 12pm, but of course a lot of the goodies were already gone by then; in my opinion they should move the event to a larger space, maybe one single large hall so that crowd flow is better. At the minimum the Ecuagenera pickups need to be moved to a separate room so the line doesn’t fill up the room and ruin the shopping experience!

I got a cattlyea from tenshiin froma n orchid show and all the roots were rotted (but thats expected for travel_. cost ms 25$ for a mini cattlyea
