Seemed two distinct riding’ styles: those who were seated deep to the horses’ core ... and those who appeared rather stiff across their upper chest, down through the arms only to channel that into the mount by tight reins .., note the immediate reflex-ness length & movement t of the each animal’s neck at each landing

Why do all these riders hang of the reins so much? If they rode like this in show jumping phase dear god. They should be riding from their seat sure, but not so much they're forcing the horses mouth open because they can't ride a drop into water. And they all yank back and brace their arms coming to the water so much and those poor horses need support into a tricky jump like that. I like 7:04 and 9:08 because they give release even on landings on the jump and encourages their horses forward with an even contact. Compare them to rider 9:57, sure he was clear but look at the hauling on his reins! And the unbalance over the jump. Even approaching it he was bracing against his horses mouth too hard.

+Toskurra the Bethany when you jump down a drop you have to slip the reins, and there is no time to adjust them when you're going through water and have another jump in just a few short strides. So it's best to draw the elbows back to take up the slack until after the combination. :)

the reason the horse didn't jump was that she was focusing on getting him forward only, and therefor losing her balance, she could have fallen off if the horse didn't stop
