Hey I’m setting up a medium tech planted tank I have always had them but want to make a cheaper one this time I have a dennerle 60l cube wondering what to do with it I was thinking about the asta 20 the tank is 38x43x38 so quite tall would it be good
@r6zoar4413 жыл бұрын
Want to grow a nice Monte Carlo carpet and a couple of red ludwigias and rotalas ovbs more just don’t know if it will be enough I’m going to be using dennerle 6in 1 substrate capped with dennerle scapers soil I do 50% each week and keep just some cherry shrimp and I’m going to use the tropica premium fertiliser along with root tabs no Co2 though as I don’t have enough space

@@r6zoar441 could struggle with the 38” high mate. This 10 gal is only 12” high. I would go for a more widely sold light I think. Maybe a fluval 3.0 or a finnex 24-7👍🏻

Would like say Carib Sea Eco Complete not be suitable for something like this on it's own? Or would it need some kind of soil beneath it?
@cichlidscape4 жыл бұрын
Keldrath I wouldn’t use that no. That sand to my knowledge had buffering capabilities. Increase ph etc. that wouldn’t be good for most plants/planted aquarium fish. You could use aquasoil and cap it with inert sand👍🏻
@Keldrath4 жыл бұрын
@@cichlidscape www.amazon.com/CaribSea-Eco-Complete-20-Pound-Planted-Aquarium/dp/B0002DH0QM/ This is the specific one, i thought it would have been good, it's advertised like it is? But yeah just wanted your thoughts on it as being sufficient or not.

Can I use ordinary house LED white bulbs
@cichlidscape5 жыл бұрын
Harshul Gupta it could grow some basic plants but probably not some of the more difficult ones. Some planted tank lighting have a very specific spectrum. Making the tank look better etc👍🏻

If I use ordinary tiny stone chips as substrate....The one used in home construction. Will it cut/harm my fishes?
@cichlidscape5 жыл бұрын
Harshul Gupta it could do yeah. Guess it depends on if the stone has sharp edges or not. But I would play it safe & use aquarium specific substrate👍🏻

Can you list the name of the plant in tank. From foreground to the back
@richardportelli19835 жыл бұрын
Fluval stratum is not high in nutrients, in fact it has none at all. But it is still a good all round substrate and you will need to use root tabs. Good video though and some good tips. I would also add that slower growing plants are much more rewarding and user friendly Hence why you see many aquascapers using mainly crypts, buce, anubias and java fern etc.
@cichlidscape5 жыл бұрын
Richard Portelli As far as I know stratum is made from mineral rich volcanic soil that includes trace elements for plants. Although I’m sure it’s not as rich as Ada Amazonia which I have in this tank. Thank you👍🏻 I enjoyed making this one! Appreciate you watching & commenting Richard🐟🌱
@richardportelli19835 жыл бұрын
@@cichlidscape that is correct. Amazonia is soil based and rich with ammonia. It is designed to feed plant roots for up to 2 years maybe as well as containing most of the other micro nutrients plants need. I think many people think stratum is a complete soil substrate and it is not. ADA and tropica soil I think are the most widely used soil based substrates.
@cichlidscape5 жыл бұрын
Richard Portelli yeah that’s why I used Ada Amazonia in this tank. I wanted to give it the best chance of being successful seen as it was my first planted tank. I love the growth I’m seeing🌱🐟
