Bare rooted and small plants from the store can be planted the same way as this one and I'll show you every single step and explain as I go. I'll be using a grow bag and I'll explain why, as well as share tips along the way to give you a better gardening experience.

Yes, my raspberries will stay in raised beds and containers and I'm, glad to say that my thornless blackberries are non invasive and just grow in the spot you put them in. So happy about that! Thanks Daz, great tips and tricks mate, I have my raspberries in big pots sitting in trays but the trays have holes drilled in the sides to let the excess water out and the trays stop the roots from escaping, sneaky little things haha. Hi Daz I’m a newbie at growing raspberries. I started on in a large pot I picked raspberries . When the canes died down in the winter I pruned them. In the spring I planted them in the ground lost of lush green growth no raspberries. Your video has been very informative.

G'day! The bags I used for these are 15 gallon from Amazon Australia. They are 30cm high and have a 50cm diameter. I'm a huge fan of growing in containers and hope to do a video on small space gardening soon. Good luck with yours and I hope you get to enjoy fresh berries like I am doing here. It's just the best! I see your grow bags are 15 gal? about 50 liter. but you started in a 1 gal 4 liter? then transplanted to the 50l or should i start my cane right at the 50l bag? also last year in grow bags I lost raspberry, blackberry and grape to root freezing. all my bags are on pallets so the bottoms of the bags are exposed to open air on the bottom. should a place a pot catch pan under the bags?

G'day! I think you will be fine with starting in a 50L if you have one ready. Just keep it moist and mulch around it if you can. Mine were in the smaller pots as I'm pretty sure I got 2 of them heavily discounted as they had been at the store too long and I nursed them back to health in the original pots. I'm really sorry you lost the plants to the freezing. It's something I have never dealt with fortunately. If you can't put them in the ground and cover with thick mulch to try to protect the roots, is it maybe possible to surround the grow bags with chicken wire and tightly fill under and around the grow bags with something like hay, straw, sugar cane mulch, to try to keep the direct cold off them? I hope that makes sense? Not sure how cold it gets, but if you lost the last lot of plants to the cold, protecting them would be a must. I hope this helps and please feel free to contact me again. How much water do you use per watering?

G'day! That is very dependent on the season and how much the plant is shaded, but as a rough guide, I would give this a good soak once a week. In between, I would check the soil with my finger and if it was feeling dry, I would give a light watering to make the soil damp again. Summer and fruiting periods are when I would pay more attention to how much water goes onto the plant. I have seen sources say in the past that a plant would require about 1-2 inches a week and double that while fruiting. I hope that helps and good luck, Daz.
