Do you recommend briefly soaking the crowns for an hour or so prior to planting in a bucket of a water that has been allowed to stand for a day or two to encourage the declorination of the water?

thank you for sharing this information this is my first time this year growing asparagus I did exactly as you had demonstrated I wasn't sure how long it would take before I would see growth I live in North Texas Southern Oklahoma and I have planted them in a raised bed I have plant them in places where it gets 4 to 6 hour Sun at a time I haven't seen any growth yet and it's been almost 3 weeks did I do it right or have I done something wrong thank you very much

Why is the old advice to cover them slowly, and are there advantages to that method vs. the one you did, just covering them completely from the start?

I planted some asparagus about 20 years ago. I was told then I had to wait 3 years before harvesting. We did enjoy them but many of them were very thin. I was told the thin ones were the females and the big ones were male asparagus. Is this true. Don't they have a short harvesting season? After several years I let them go because I couldn't keep the weeds out. Thinking of planting some more. Which variety grows the biggest and best tasting? We live in zone 7.

I have cut asparagus from the store that looks like it is still growing. Will it root or go to seed if I give it water and light?

This is not how you plant asparagus !! You have stick a tube in a pig but grab the stuff plant it and wait for the tree to grow then grab the vegetables it grows and put it in you mouth then cough it up and plant it and asparagus grows! This guy knows nothing...
