So the big day has finally arrived when I get to try out my Newly acquired Allis Chalmers 2 row, No Till planter! To say that I was excited was a bit of an under statement. I've been trying for YEARS to have a good corn plot and I still NEVER have...I thought this year would finally be my year!! Grab some popcorn and a cold beverage, this is the full version so you get the full experience.. I guess no one ever said this stuff would be easy.... But it looks so easy on TV!!!

Thanks and good luck. I once argued with a guy on tractor forum.. He argued til he was blue in the face that a NX 45 or 50 will do all the same as an NX60.... I gave up arguing with him, but I got the biggest one I could get, only because I was in your shoes with the 2 tractors I had before this one and realized how valuable every bit of extra power can be... but you are right, the 45 ought to be very capable, maybe just take a little longer for some tasks....

Here's an idea to think about.... get a smooth rod and make a hole through the top of the hopper lid.... so it can move up and down friction free... the other end mount or attach it to a plate and place it on top of the corn in the hopper... as you drive around both rods should drop at the same time so you can tell from the tractor if you are seeding or not from each hopper... just thinkin.... ;)

Don't know if ya'll have Grainger stores where you live or not but they carry a very good penetrating product call "LPS KB88" made by LPS Laboratories. LPS has changed their formulas over the years but the current product is the LPS KB88. I have used their products since 1969 when I got my first car. Had to replace the exhast manifold donut gasket. Those bolts were really rusted and stuck. Couple squrts and I was able to break them loose without twisting the studs out of the manifold. Some Co-Ops might carry it too. I think it is better than WD-40. Really liking your videos, I'm not a farmer but both of my grandfathers were, makes me realize just how hard they had to work.

you need to check the seed drop tubes before you start planting. and 2 do a drop test on it by setting a coffee can or pie pan under each row unit and roll the wheel a full turn and see if the seed drops out the bottom of the units

Yes, this one is. But I've noticed on some of the same planters that they do not have the front cutting disk. That front cutting disk is necessary for sure to try to no till. And even though it is a 'no till' it has limitations I'm finding out. I just planted some more corn plots in tall, alive weeds. We'll see how that goes! :) Good luck!

Oh... you are way off.... All of this to support wildlife, deer, turkeys, birds, rabbits, squirrels, waterfowl, predators, etc. etc. All of this to give a food source when another polar vortex hits and we get sub zero temps for prolonged time which kills all green browse.. All of this to spend some quality time with my kids in the field so that we have some good experiences... All of this so that when I am able to (health issues..) get out and hunt that I enjoy seeing nature at work... Not just deer, many other critters.. All of this so that I feel some sense of accomplishment that I am improving the overall value of our land... And yes, maybe, I might harvest a deer or two... But I will be supporting HERDS of deer. So, just what is it that you do to support wildlife?????
