Sugar Cane Season! 🙌🏾💯🌱✨

Florida is the nation's largest producer of sugarcane because of its warm subtropical/ tropical climate. Since it grows so well here, we thought we’d try planting it ourselves. This is our second year growing sugarcane and we are officially hooked!

This year on our farm, we decided to harvest our canes to expand our sugarcane field. We are growing the Red Sugarcane variety, which we purchased at a market in South Florida. The canes have grown up to 10ft tall and have produced very well for us this season. In this video, we share how we harvest and plant our sugarcane.

Sugarcane is a wonderful easy to grow plant that requires little maintenance. This tropical grass is generally planted from mid August- November. New growth can be seen in the following spring. Sugarcane can grow in climate zones 6-10, but keep in mind, this grass prefers tropical and full sun conditions. We are growing sugarcane to add diversity to our farm as well as to make delicious sugarcane juice for the market in the future!
