I learned about Lingonberries watching Garden Style nw. Planted under my Loblolly Pines here in Southern Va, zone 8A two years ago. They are doing great so far, spreading like crazy. New to your channel, you got me while I was searching for ways to build a greenhouse. Yours is amazing. You inspired me. GREAT JOB!!!

Nice approach. I just developed an interest in growing lingonberries. I already have blueberries, with acidic soil, so I am contemplating planting lingonberries in the same vicinity, as I saw suggested elsewhere. However, the hesitation is that blueberries have shallow roots, so I would think the lingonberry ground cover would have to be "out on the perimeter", to avoid competition, while still needing to maintain access to pick blueberries. Thoughts?

Any updates on how your lingonberries are doing? I've planted a half dozen or so in 7a and about half seem to be growing well and the other half just suddenly died mid-summer.

Our summers here are too hot for them. They’re pretty stagnant. Next year going to shade them during mid summer.

Hi Paul, they do grow upnort at our caabin side by side with wild blueberries...in the woods the do get dapple shade....in zone 6 also@@GardenwPaul

LOL (laughing at myself here), just left and liked one of your posts about coriander and I suddenly saw 'lingonberries' in association with your account and I was saying to myself, "What?? That can't be right?!" I thought you had to go to Sweden OR at your local IKEA, just to get lingonberry juice (not the seeds for the plant), and here you are posting on how to grow lingonberries! I need to know how to start bushes... I found YELLOW berries (a native elder identified as good eats and wants some.. evidently rather rare).. growing next to a red berry bush.. It's the ONLY yellow I've EVER seen, and been picking in that spot over 20 years!!! I SO WANT to get more going out there!!! So, short of digging the ONLY (larger bush, probably wouldn't survive) bush up, how do I get starts?? Seed?? Slips?? HELP A NATURALIST OUT!!!

What is a lingonberry?

They grow commonly in Sweden and parts of Canada and northern areas of the States. You maybe able to find some Lingonberry jam at your local grocery. They are a delight!
