I noticed you take the plant right out of the pot and boom, right into the ground!!! I was always taught to loosen all the dirt first, and if it's root bound I would cut some roots off of the bottom.. YIKES...now I'm thinking I was so wrong using this method, although all of my plants have lived and flourished, now I'm confused 🤔!! Love your videos, I have learned a lot...you are so entertaining, thank you!

Do what works I don't know there was a movement in the industry where some of the experts were saying you're doing more damage than good, I have Roots as a landscaper so planting things quickly is very important to me the only time I loosen up the roots is when I'm cramped for space. But keep doing what you're doing if it works

Stuart, love the coleus. Did you know that you can bring the plants in for the winter? And did you also know that you can make more coleus by taking cuttings and placing them in a glass of water in the window sill and they will shoot out roots, then you can plant them and get new plants. Now thats a bargin!! Love your show I watch it all the time. AnnLyn from N. M. Zone 7.

That is a thing that I know I also know that I'm pretty lazy and I have cats and here in a day I'm going to leave Texas I'm going to have a puppy so I don't know if I have any place in the house where I can win her over some coleus but the cuttings I could probably do that.
@kyrad65432 жыл бұрын
I love coleus. I use a ton of it in my containers because there are varieties that do well in partial sun and full sun. For your window boxes, I put a couple of pool noodles in the bottom to use up some of the space so you don't have to use so much soil. You can cut the noodles to the length of the box and you can even cut in half lengthwise if you want half-circles in there. works great. I use them in all my containers now because I can re-use them next year or even leave them there in the winter (I take most of the soil out).
@landscaperescuewithstuartm61412 жыл бұрын
good tip I had just enough thankfully! Looks like two bags will do 3 window boxes. Should have done Coleus in all of them but I put some designer Genes hosta in the other two.

@@landscaperescuewithstuartm6141 I love hostas in containers. I think they are a very underrated container plant. They look amazing with some bright impatiens or begonias and creeping jenny. And bonus, you can plant them out in the landscape at the end of the season!
