Loved your video this morning. You know where you say nothing grows. Maybe something like a large pot planted up with annuals or some large yard art. A big old beautiful log would fit into the woodsy vibe. Also ostrish ferns would look great for different texture. I put extra plants at the street with info and a free sign. So don’t want to throw out healthy plants. Happy gardening Jes.

I love all your hosta. I have so many places I could put them but the daggone deer eat them every time I try. Liquid fence is great to keep them away but it gets pricey so I gave up trying to grow big beautiful hosta. I get my fix watching you in your gardens. You do an amazing job ! Glad Nate checks on you 😊

Hi Jed. As I watch your movie I get so envious of all the garden space you have. I used to think my gardens were large but hit any more! Just the fact that you move plants around so much is something to envy. I just love watching your movies and hate when they end. You are the best!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Fingers crossed the chipmunks don’t find the flower yummy. I planted those in the ground and they initially ate them to the ground but they did flush back unevenly. Ahhh the wonderful world of gardening with nature.😊

I planted a whole bunch of zinnia seeds yesterday. I am a week later planting them this year than I was last year. I ordered a bunch of zinnia seeds from swallowtail seeds in the winter and just never got organized enough to start them inside! I started snap dragons and gomphrena, some salvia varidis, hollyhocks, and nasturtiums… all dying to get out of their tiny seed trays and be planted.. (I wasn’t even organized enough to up pot them 🙄) sometimes life just gets in the way! lol Anyway- I have a GIANT flag pole smack dab in the middle of my back yard and it throws off my vision for the space.. If you & Nate want it, you can have it. It’s one of those high quality legit ones. Not that I don’t love our flag but I don’t want this pole right in the middle of my back yard. It’s in a weird spot frankly and I am just as happy with flying a flag right off of my house. I bet this pole is like 25 feet high.. idk, I’m not good with measurements and distances but I feel like it’s huge. Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day week end and I hope you get to enjoy your gardens, your family and remember those who’ve past on and remember our soldiers who gave all. ♥️🇺🇸

Good morning Jes, loving your garden space as usual ❤️ Can’t wait to see how beautiful it will be over the summer with all the annuals, especially the zinnias. I wanted to let you know about what Michelle from the garden connection, zone 5 in Rockford, ill mentioned … (she is an owner of a garden center and retired landscaper) … she puts a pre-emergent granular down in her planting beds. Obviously do your research it as I have no experience with this. Maybe someone else here can reply. I don’t have the same weed issue in my small beds. I feel for you when you need to pull all the weeds 😖 And there was a funny moment in this video just when you mentioned the chipmunk… (as I am sitting on my patio under a canopy as it’s currently raining, but as long as I stay dry I love it. It’s so peaceful to me 😊) … anyway, a chipmunk 🐿️ ran past me and into the garden bed!! In that very moment you said the word 😂 Now I have never seen one in our space until a years ago when I seen ONE .. and then nothing all last year. And now he’s back 😟

Also, Happy Memorial Day weekend to you and your family ❤️ I do not have family members in the armed forces, however, I have always been patriotic and it saddens me that to think of all who are serving and the great sacrifices they make for our country 😢 Bless them all 🙏🏻 But, your brother will be the one that I think of over the weekend. Hugs to you today.

Love zinnias too! I, too get easily distracted by moving one plant to an area that then needs two plants and 10 bulbs moved and so on. I end up all over my yard. Now I usually go outside with a small list to keep me on track. Anyways, I was wondering if you could do a video on your top heucheras that you have in your yard. I only have palace purple that stay for more than two years. Thanks! I love your yard!

I have so many rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels and even a porcupine that are feasting on my garden. Sometimes I just want to scream after I’ve just planted a full flat of plants and they are non existent by the next morning. I keep thinking of you when in one of your recent videos you said “rabbits have to eat to”. I’m really trying to have better thoughts!!!

When do you plant all your impatiens?
@richbishop78965 ай бұрын
Jes it might not be the soil but what you're planting there. Sedum like a dry, sunny spot and hostas like a shady, moist area. Maybe move your sedum to the front garden. Bonny
@joannbishop8925 ай бұрын
Doesn't sedum want sun? I thought that was a shade garden since you have so many hostas there. Then you planted more sun plants there. Is it sun or shade? If hostas do that well in sun, I'm going to be adding more. Love your garden!

In the area that nothing grows 1: since you don’t really know what happened to the land before it became a subdivision it may have been a dumping spot for things, back in the day people used to just dump things out in the yard or an unused area and something may have ended up in that area ? 2: it may be a spot with naturally occurring “ bad “ soil ? Or 3: the contractors may have dumped something there when building your house ? Maybe a soil test in that area? Maybe a soil test in that area plus one further down the line to see if it’s different somehow ? There has to be a reason other than critters because in my experience critters don’t just target one area they tunnel all over the place. While walking in my yard and garden I feel the difference in the soil where the critters have tunneled, I may not see it but when I walk on it the soil “ gives “ a little I can feel it sink down some. Just some thoughts ? 💐💚🙃

I wonder if chipmunks would relocate if you planted mint in a pot near their holes. Peppermint repells mice, maybe chipmunks, too. You could make a minty spray for the area, but rain will wash it away. Mint is invasive, so keep it in a pot. I'd put a dozen pots around chipmunk crossing. Seeds are cheap.
