This video explains the steps I took to plant a food plot for deer with no-till methods to transform a tall weedy field into a lush green food plot in 3 weeks. No disking, no tilling, no breaking ground. Using the dead vegetation as a layer of protective mulch to cover the seed kept the seed from drying out in the hot sun and getting eaten by the birds.

Great to see the progress of the plot over time. So may channels show the planting but not the progress. Thank you for an excellent video!

Awesome! That’s really encouraging cuz I planted into tall stuff that looked just like that! Planted mine Sept 10 and so far gotten 4 diff rains on it over 2” total! Hit it with more 17-17-17 and winter rye this weekend. Hoping for similar results as that landowners! Great work.

you guys nailed with with the utility box. I would let stuff get 6' tall and broadcast right into it if I could.. That layed down is a fantastic mulch bed. It might take a little longer for plants to emerge, but once they do, boom.. they explode...

In all fairness to anyone planting Buckwheat if you don't get the needed rain the stand will be poor. Cool that you could still make it work with all those weeds rolled and sprayed.

so what your saying is.it's best to just run over the dead grass/weeds with a roller or harrow and then seed for better results?

Put the seed down before you run it over then kill it or it will compete with what you r planting

Seed first. Then roll the weeds. You get better seed to soil contact when broadcasting into vertical stems. Then cultipacking helps enhance that seed to soil contact.

Why did y’all spray your standing buckwheat? Was it to open up the space for the seeds you cultipacked in? Genuinely curious of why you sprayed! What would happen if you did not spray

How long will liquid lime stay in the ground
@karma8001
@karma8001 Жыл бұрын
I season. It's just a bandaid. If your ground needs lime lime it but in a pinch use the liquid. They say the hard lime takes a year to start working. If your going to do this TO NOT MIX THE BRASICA WITH WINTER RYE. They compete and u should plant them at different times. Brasicas on half winter rye, winter wheat, oats together on the other half

Need to kill it. Roundup (glyphasate) won't hurt the deer and becomes neutral when it hits the ground.

Good info. But Putting extra Weed killer concentrate in your mix is totally useless. The regular mixture will kill all the plants. Better to slow down and saturate more with the regular amount of mix.

Really all fine and good guys but man you spend ALOT of money on your plot. Do you do pay hunts or something? It just doesn't seem worth all this just for a 3 acre deer plot and some recreational deer hunting.
@karma8001

The guy talking is getting paid 2 help the farmer (hunter) do it wrong. First off u never mix brasica and winter rye, them stands are in the wrong spot. There's way to much 2 mention
