This is too real 💀 I had a little string of hearts, it was doing great and I was so proud of myself and then recently I come back home after the weekend and it had committed suicide. From plump and green to completely shrivelled and dead in two days. How.

My daughter has put me to shame with her Monsteras…We purchased a 2 node Albo cutting for $250 around the middle of the pandemic. and I gifted her the top cutting, a Thai and an Aurea and the most recent is the Aurea. They are HUGE! We live in the U.S. Texas to be exact and she swears she got it to size up quickly with light. She has her plants in a SW facing window and all three are enviable. I may have to turn up my game. 😂 I just got a Brandtianum and I am enjoying it. It’s growing quickly. I’ll have to get it on a moss pole in a month or two. I also love my Rhaphidophora tetrasperma however I’ve cut it back a couple of times so I could give cuttings to friends. I’ll be leaving it alone now, I really want it to size up for me. Currently loving Hoyas though…I find it challenging and rewarding to get them to bloom!! …. and the fragrance of their blooms! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

My biggest space hog is my tree philodendron (thaumatifolium now?) My Monstera deliciosa got so big I had to start over with cuttings. I'm trying to force my Gloriosum to climb a pole with aroid mix...we'll see if it is possible.😂 With around 300 plants I seriously need to find space savers. M.adonsonii and Rhapidophora tetrasperma both skyrocketed up poles and I have started over with those as well. Always a challenge! Good video.

crawling Philos can be "stunted" and more space efficient by forcing the rhizome to bend. My gloriosum is in a fairly small (19 cm) round pot and I use a small stake to bend the rhizome back into the pot as it grows. It has wrapped around that pot twice but the pot looks full even though the leaves do not grow to their full potential. Some other aroids that I consider easy to grow and space efficient are Peperomia, Homalomena and Aglaonema (Chinese Evergreen). Peperomia come in such a wide variety of sizes, leaf shape, leaf texture, color, vining or non-vining, there is probably something for everyone in that genus.

@fainakub6092 thank you. I do have to redirect the vines that are long enough downwards, using the older vines with leaves that are already in the downward position and I take the tip of the new vine off to the lenghts that I wish, about 40 or 50 cm, which triggers the vine to harden until it hangs on its own, without the support of the old ones and then I can release it.

Okay, I have a new question! 😂 So for the crawlers, what if, instead of doing the soil trough style planter you grew them horizontally on a D frame moss pole? And then mounted to the wall (with command hooks or something since you’re renting for now) and then you could almost stack them like shelves to create a horizontal wall display?

I currently have my R.T. attached to small branches that act as support. It’s getting to the point where it’ll need a chop and prop. Those propagations are definitely going on a moss pole so I can let it grow. The R.T. has become one of my favourite plants.
