I absolutely loved this video. I could listen to Gene talk for hours! So knowledgeable! I am glad he didn't get rid of that giant eucalyptus tree. Its shadow creates different growing conditions and that's always a good idea (plus, I live in Australia and have a soft spot for our magnificent trees) 🌿

The most challenging aspect of growing many indoor plants is watering them. You can't simply shower them all at once; instead, you must water each pot individually. This process can be quite time-consuming.

I'm a landscaper in South Carolina. I recently found a love in cacti / succulents. they're pretty cool. I've got most in pots, but some are actually in ground. Thanks to this video I now know how to take care of most of them. I don't know what it's called yet, but I've got one aloe that has red spines that I've had indoors in a window for the past 3 years. I took it outside last spring and it has grown four times the original size in flowered like crazy attracting honey bees and even hummingbirds.

Gene and Jane are generous for sharing knowledge they've learned from experience over decades of intimate observations of their plants. Many of their plants can be challenging and take patience to grow from seed. I'm glad you could share their story with the world :)

I wouldn't even know where to begin to comment on any plants that I enjoyed the most. Such a wonderful nursery and garden! I did enjoy hearing about the echinocereus viridiflorus which he mentioned Big Bend Ranch State Park just 17 miles from me. I did not realize that was a native cacti so that is going on my list of one to purchase at some point. One thing he mentioned was the toll the UV and aridity play on labels. I can't keep a label for more than a couple of years before they become brittle and snap at the slightest touch an d then there goes any info that was listed. Also, many people not from this area think of desert plants and the term 'no water' go together. Even heat can become too much for some cacti. Like the Saguaro that last Summer were dropping arms as well as collapsing due to the extreme temps. Thank you again for the fantastic and informative tours!

❤I like your productivity. So much cacti and succies in last videos, great.👍 For me are cacti a real good indicator for the dessert climate and a great example of how important a stable climate is for the evolution of them. And how they live in this climate symbiotic .In perfect desert climate they can survive many dry conditions or hurts. But indoor u need in northern hemispheres a glasshouse to get them big. And the get easier sick also indoors.... They are challenging P.S; The Mojave desert burns😢

I'd love to get some diacotoma cuttings . Any aloe cuttings. I'm super stoked with my speckled aloe that began rotting from the root and lost leaves cutting the bottom off, fought it for months trying not to lose it and one leaf rooted faster than the rest. It's pushing 4 pups now and I'm amazed by it. I've got a 20 year old euphorbia mammallaris variegata that I was gifted and it's just so rare to see things like this in the South East

At 1:18:34 about the Cytocarpa edulis . I've heard that some trees tend to produce more seed when stressed. I guess it's a natural mechanism of plants to ensure survival of the species. Maybe the tree was already stressed out and slowly diminishing and was why it suddenly started producing all that seed. Could it be that the heat was just what pushed the plant over the edge from an already existing ailment? Im just a plant rookie and just sharing my thought. Great video.
