The archaeologist is BAD it does low damage it's only up side is ammo which you wouldn't use so much of it if you had something like the chemist

hrmm, seems like the Archaeologist acts as the long range version of the Scientist, making it a bit more well rounded overall, but requires more accuracy on the part of the player to actually do well.
