Malcolm, I am 72 years old, my garden is one half of an American acre. I keep at it - I keep moving - if you plant your arse in a chair for too long it isn't coming out until they drop it in a pine box. Keep on moving - keep pushing - piss on old age...

Malcolm you are brilliant! It's so refreshing to have someone who thinks that gardening is about the plants and how best to grow them where they'll be happy, rather than having some fancy design full of concrete and then wondering where the plants will fit in. One of the things I'd like is if you and Thomas could talk some more about conifers in the small and medium sized garden please. There seem to be loads of possibilities with conifers but picking the right ones can be a challenge.

I'm so envious you can 'dig' and 'garden' this time of year. Over here NH, my ground is pretty much frozen. Although with some effort I was able to dig up a couple dahlia tubers that I'd forgotten about. Amazingly, they look quite good. So good to see Thomas and Clara. Those two crack me up; 'jabbing' at each other. Malcolm, I love your way of teaching; very easy to understand- 'not too sciency'.

Thank you for another great video. I look forward to learning more plant stuff from you, thanks for clarifying between tilth and the other thing (ha ha) today. The round hole square pot thing was hilarious, I laughed aloud and showed husband who laughed too! I think Heptacodium is named because of the 7bblooms per stem. In the last house I planted a small one, deer ate most of it but I took care of it and it grew again but then in a giant hurricane a neighbor’s tree fell and smushed it. It was growing again, a bit crookedly, but then we moved. In USA there is a machine called a DITCH WITCH that I believe is not so massive but I’m not sure. Ihave seen those machines and they are a dream come true but I have always had to dig my own trenches and holes 😵.With my American shovel.

Malcolm, can i suggest as you dig your 2 foot trench, place a piece of wood about 36 inch by 6 at the bottom to create a ' shovelling board ' as you move along the trench.

My own garden soil is almost like the subsoil in yours. Probably cause its only been a garden a few years now. I have an old patch of small trees and very old shrubs and although it was totally overgrown the soil there is more along the lines of the lovely dark stuff you have.

Hi Malcolm I'm enjoying the new format of videos or whatever they call them. You've got your hands full in your garden, loads of work done and more to do. I'm particularly pleased your going to educate us even more when you have your new shed, and talk about your extensive knowledge of plants, looking forward to those very much. All the best for 2022.

Have you thought about putting in a 12 volt supply instead of mains electricity to your shed/workshop? If you just need lighting then 12 volts wold be adequate. No need then to dig a 2foot deep trench and think of the savings over armoured cable. Lots of power tools are battery operated and if you need a cuppa then a gas ring will suit. Love the videos...
@plantsmanscorner1282 жыл бұрын
I had thought of this Amac….however, I do a lot of wood turning (I find it relaxing) and I need to get my lathe, bandsaw and one or two other bits going…there is also the option of developing the pond into something quite special with an added stream and possibly some garden lighting in the future. It is my intention to make the garden quite spectacular in about 2 or 3 years and to then open it for charities occasionally….it will be good, I have a picture in my mind, just have to hope I’ve time to complete it. thank you for your comment….very best wishes….Malcolm

A big and heartfelt thankyou to Malcolm, Thomas, Lisa and Amanda (and your camera team - aka Lisa) for giving me (us) some moments of normality and certainty in these abnormal and uncertain times. Sunniside is a big task, and it comes along very well. Digging that trench is a mammoth chore, so take it step by step! I am looking forward to seeing you with new videos next year, happy, healthy and with your grinchy banter. I hope, your feeling about the end of this sad situation does not miselead you. Have a very merry christmas and the best wishes for a prosperous 2022! It was/ is a pleasure to watch your episodes! Stay safe, Hanni.
@plantsmanscorner1282 жыл бұрын
Thank you Hanni…..I am of the firm belief this latest virus variant is it’s last throw of the dice. If it’s not I will hope more will be done to find out the origin of this shitshow……no so much to bring anyone or any country down or to seek retribution…..but simply to make sure it never happens again. You will gather from that, as someone who spent 10 years growing a vast range of plants……(including GMO’s) for research, I am highly sceptical of its natural origin. I walked away over GM biosecurity issues so have little trust in the institutes sadly. But I hope I am right….but not very scientific based on the behaviour of plum trees!….best wishes….Malcolm

Malcolm, why not just take the cable over ground by the side of the fence to the shed?
@plantsmanscorner1282 жыл бұрын
Because it’s illegal Goshtkub……our laws require all electricity cables….even armoured ones, to be buried 60cms below ground. Electricians won’t do the work without this groundwork being done. When I was a boy people had cables hanging through the trees and all sorts…no more though….it also needs its own circuit board for the supply. Not to do so would invalidate insurance in the case of fire etc. I had hoped originally I could do that…but no….at least I can put a water pipe in with it as well. Best wishes…..Malcolm

This whole video deserves a super long weirdass comment... and it is coming. On rhe tree, the girl and the dig. But not now. No time. ☺Thomas and Clara, watch out nowadays (ffs). Clara, you would do Tom and Tom likes you. Just like he likes every other nubile girl out there right now. Both of you ...dont fall into any biological traps. The long boring comment will be coming. But for now I'm happy to be supporting the channel by coaxing the algorythm with this one. Anyway, for the record... the Dr. zuess (?) poem at the end man... had to comment on this...🥰 I was in tears ffs! Having watched the new flim and been intrigued how the old film presented it... I think the new film has made a cut! (the cut is my cut lol). I cried and f*cked during this film believe it or not. Its like the godfather series or the sopranos. The first time I saw the disbelief fill the grinch's face, I knew there was hope for Christmas in this film. Sounds emotional, well ye, maybe. But after the arguments and revelations in the height of a Scottish summer in the pubs, sitting in the little boxes of houses in north east Scotland watching the supranos episodes back to back lying with women... maybe it was emotional ffs 😎🌞🤣:)... That summer, I realised that the suspension of disbelief is one of the most important and powerful things that humans can muster. If you want to go high you have to go low! Don't let people pull you away from what you are heading towards either. More extensive comments on this vid. To come whether you like it or not! 😄
