A deceptively simple set dance, "Planxty Davis" was composed by Irish-born Thomas O'Connellan in 1689 to commemorate the Battle of Killiecrankie in Scotland. Depending on the instrument and setting, this beautiful little tune takes on a totally different character! (See links below.) Fans of Nic Jones may recognize it from his album Penguin Eggs, and Nathan Salsburg has also recorded it in DGDGAE. I tried figuring their arrangements out but lazily decided to just re-arrange it in DADGAD so I'd have another piece in that tuning.

You're loving that Brondel and playing with great heart and consistency. I'm getting hints of harpsichord or fiddle in your performance. You're dialed in and in a great groove.

Great take on the classic Connellan piece!💚 Still hoping to hear your arrangement of Carolan's Quarrel with the Landlady some day - I think that tune would suit your style perfectly, be it on zouk or some open-ish tuning on guitar. Gráinne Hambly did a fantastic arrangement for the harp bit I feel it could be made more droney and work just as great if not better.

Another beautiful tune played wonderfully 🙂These videos are so inspirational - what a treat it's been to watch these on nearly a weekly basis! Thanks so much - I definitely plan to use them and the tabs to improve my ability to play this kind of music. Hammer ons/pull offs seem to be my weak point, I envy your ability to play them so cleanly!

I often feel rhythm is my weak point so this is a huge compliment, thank you! My time spent chunking chords in old-time and working on my Travis picking must be paying off.
