Jesus man! when Christy Moore lifts that bhodran at the end it's the essence of perfection, a stunning allround performance from the one and only Planxty. Patrick (Ireland).

2:49 Andy forgets the words, 2:50 Donal instantly realises, 2:52 Donal turns and says 'Witness' to Andy, 2:54 Andy sings the last verse, awesomeness is resumed.

Andy had made a hames of the words well before that and seemed to have given up. Donal was mouthing the words to himself after Andy stopped singing. They carried on with the instrumental break, and THEN Donal prompted Andy as he realised he needed it! Great professionalism- nothing was obvious unless you really know the song.

My dear friend Steve Myles gave me Planxty Live 2004 a few years back. Since then the 2 most played albums (out of a few) are Kind of Blue and Planxty Live . My favourite memory is Christmas Eve '97 on the way to a the top of big mounain in North Africa singing various renditions to my fellow climbers. The pity is I left Ireland in '89 with no real appreciation of my musical heritage.

Andy Irvine does a nice job on this old English folk tune, collected in Herefordshire. He would have learned it from Martin Carthy or the Steeleye Span album of 1970, which is also worth checking out.

Planxty was an will always be an amazing composition of talent and imagination. The composition of the obtruse instruments is amazing. It is a sound that resonates and vibrates the soul more than the ear. It penetrates the heart and spirit. I love planxty's work and will be forever indebted to their genious.

No, he was forced to repeat the previous verse's last two stanzas, and was forced to keep silent the rest of the 4th verse. (Ireland was _still_ a theocracy masquerading as a democracy in those days, 1972.) Years later, during the reunion, he was able to sing the offending verses.

Hi everybody. I have seen Planxty once in my life. It was in Reims (France) in 1976, the band was reduced to two original members, Liam and Andy, and Paul Brady. This very evening, Liam had flu, and he was nearly crimson under the spots, but they gave a very good show anyway. I just missed Christie and Donald, despite Brady real talent !

Isn't it extraordinary that they had to censor some of the words. Seems there were some thing you couldn't even imply on the Late Late Show. "don't you remember when you lay beside me You said you'd marry me, and not deny me. If i said I'd marry you, it was only to try you So bring your witness love, and I'll not deny you."
