Thanks for showing us your learning process! I hope this doesn't come off weird, but I'm kinda jealous of what seems to be your charmed life. Walking distance city, working with your hands all day, being creative...just seems nice :)

It is pretty charmed - but like all lives it’s not always this lovely! I show the nice bits of course. I do love living in a walkable city though for sure.

for 1 portion of water use 1.5 or 1.8 of plaster powder and start immediately to mix slowly with your hand (from the bottom sake it to put the bubbles exit out, put the bubble on the surface with your hands and throw them away ) and watch to make sure you got the right consistency before pouring it when it's still liquid!

I enjoyed the part where your head basically exploded from the thought of the plaster cast then becoming a mould itself.. i was there with you mentally, lol! Love your videos pls keep making more

You can also put some vaseline or oil into the mold (just put it on a napkin and go all over your dish where you pour plaster in), so it demolds easier

I ended up doing it the math way last time, my plaster was old but it had been stored in a plastic bag so it worked just fine (I didn’t know about the three month rule, I have a huge bag I’ve had for at least a month now, I guess I have some plaster adventures ahead very soon!). But man…I hate math. It worked. But I hated every second of it.

Good video, I recently used some plaster to make a wedging / recycling table. Another thing to note - plaster needs to be stored in a sealed container after opening.

Good tip- I now have it in a big plastic bag tied v tight - don’t have a container that it fits in annoyingly!

I’ve done this - (only in plastics bowls) -tapping the edges will help the bubbles come to the surface

Oh and I didn’t mix it with my hands, just tapped it on the table and sides to even out the plaster

Instead of putting plastic under the alum tray to hold it up I would fully fill it with clay to ensure it is held up and does not crush under the plaster weight

Looks like the mix was too wet and not thoroughly mixed. Need a mixer tool on a drill. Also for the size of the mould probably needs a week at least to dry. A plastered wall with a few mm of thickness needs a week.

Did you watch to the end? The plaster was expired so went off waaaay faster than it should have so it wasn’t able to be mixed propert

Love your videos but the sound quality is quite bad, I have to turn my volume up really high and even then I still need captions to understand you. Would you maybe be able to use a mic? Love your content!

Lining your mixing bucket with a plastic rubbish bag means you can just lift out the whole thing and throw it directly in the bin.
@MaeCeramics
@MaeCeramics Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I don't find that I need to do that though, I try to keep waste as little as possible so don't want to add plastic when I don't need to :)
