Plastering the hall stairs & landing on domestics are always a slog , setting up the plank & ladders & people up & down the stairs, in & out of the bathroom.. 😣☺️ On the plus, it's always a pleasure to see them transformed & it's the first thing people see when entering the home.
On this particular job we opened out the landing a little by repositioning a wall & raised the head height coming up the stairs. Thank you to all that have subscribed to the channel 👍

Done quite a few like that. We always work in 3, one top middle and bottom. Not too bad if you can some natural light in with a few doors open.. Bit tougher graft if you need a bit scaffold up like a ladder and batten etc.. Nice to see lads on the same wave length as my team and get people to understand whats involved with these types of jobs and how to tackle them. Ive done them for years ,sometimes puts people off the size. I dont mind doing staircases least theres no furniture in the way most of the time .Your jobs are looking good keep up the graft. Great videos👍

Enjoyed that vid Stu, I stear clear of hall, stairs and landings now tbh, but I did like the way you set up the plank across a timber attached to the wall

Great video thanks for showing it, out of interest looks like 1950s house latest so just wondering do the external walls have a cavity as I need to do similar and was wondering if possible to dab instead of hardwall?
@troweltalk2719
@troweltalk2719 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, Either system will be fine, hardwall is ideal where impact damage to the wall maybe a concern or if you require a tighter coat of plaster also fixing into a wall is much better if it has solid plaster compared to fixing onto a wall that has been dot+dabbed on the other hand a dabbed wall will typically dry much faster & requires much less skill to install & get level. I hope this helps thanks for watching the channel appreciate it 👍

1 coat looks like bonding...is that right?
@troweltalk2719
@troweltalk2719 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew the first coat is a combination of multi finish & thistle bonding coat. We add around 20% bonding coat to the mix which allows for building out, levelling up & also slows the setting time down. We tend to use this method alot because we are usually embedding fibreglass mesh & going over old uneven or textured surfaces.. Thank you for watching the channel 👍

How’re you getting the render mesh to stick before you coat it lad? I’ve only ever done a magic mix and bedded it in and skimmed over in afternoon

I dont see how the material would bond to the wall behind the mesh. Is the wall behind pva'd ? Maybe enough material gets through the holes in the mesh to stick. Could be wrong

A lot of your work appears to be domestic. Do you deal with many builders? Personally I hate working for builders.
@troweltalk2719
@troweltalk2719 2 жыл бұрын
Mostly domestic I do a bit for builders but not much. Builders get a hard time I think they have a tough job organising trades & flowing cash many are on the tools themselves too so they're spinning alot of plates to be honest I take my hat off to the good ones that can manage projects & keep all the trades on track it don't take much for a start date to fall away when you work for builders I find domestics are more reliable I can fill the dairy up with domestics & if one falls away I can pull another in & keep the lads busy also as plasterers we can get a better price & build our own customer base if we cut out the middle man & go direct to the customer which is what I tend to do
