redo with same color + weigh cans to see if same amount used. this test is inconclusive and useless
@angelkitty1328 жыл бұрын
+Spode Ash is actually sort of right this test in inconclusive but maybe not for the same reasons he thinks. It is not a realistic situation though, his paint job of the flexidip side was horrible from the start. Horrible beginnings give horrible results. he took his time and did proper layering on the plastidip side, on the other he did a shoddy job, rushed it if you watch he was moveing almosy 4 times as fast on the flexidip side and didn't even put on even layers.

@unionse7en8 жыл бұрын
nice, but you can't compare the color of orange vs white, orange is less opaque than white, in fact it is suggested that the orange be applied OVER a white base.
@alexgreen69668 жыл бұрын
The only difference I noticed between the too is that Flexi dip sprays nicer because it`s thinner.
@r.broderick22229 жыл бұрын
Not a valid test. The color is key here. You are comparing apples to oranges. Why wouldn't you get the same color? That makes no sense. Also, it the flexi-dip stayed on just slightly better than wouldn't that make it the superior product for sticking to the material painted? If i paint my car with this, I want to be sure it stays on.
@NamingGaming9 жыл бұрын
there's a vid where a guy used flexidip on his car and it peeled off some of his clear coat
@justingibbs68449 жыл бұрын
+Raymond Broderick Sure the colours may be different, but its still a demonstration of the final product. The test was to see what peels better and im going to take a can of plastidip over flexidip if its going to peel my clear coat. Plastidip works just the same but if properly applied you can peel it off months after. Flexidip may just turn into hell and make your car look like shit once you realise how fucked it is and cant peel it off or something lmfao
@funkymonkey5297 жыл бұрын
I guess to be more specific. I plasti dip mx plastics then custom paint over them. some times ill lay tape to do stripes but it can be difficult to pull off of plasti dip. so that's what I was getting at. thanks for the reply
@Fifty50Photography7 жыл бұрын
Oh ok, I see what your saying. I did something similar to that. I plasti dipped a car fender and then used a paint pen to draw on top of the plasti dip. When I pulled it off the part that was painted stuck to the fender while the untouched spots came right off. It still would come off I just had to work a little harder to get it off. You may be able to wax or do something similar to the surface before spraying the plasti dip. It might make it easier to peel off.
@ANathan1239 жыл бұрын
Fyi it would've been better to use the same color for both for a better comparison and also you're supposed to do like 4 or 5 thin layers and then give it 25 min to dry and then pull of the tape and you'll still get a clean line
@JesseEns10 жыл бұрын
I've tried both they are both very similar. I honestly think you put more plastidip then flexi but they are super similar. Nice video though :)
@Fifty50Photography10 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Yeah they are both very similar. I might have had a little more plasti dip on it. I tried my best to keep it around the same amount for each. I need to try it again and have both of them the same color for a better comparison next time.
@ANathan1239 жыл бұрын
Plus if you do multiple thin layers rather than two heavy layers you won't get drips
@brentmaulfair55558 жыл бұрын
Good video and all, but it kinda seems like you're biased and obviously a fan of the plasti-dip. I've been using it for years and know the proper techniques to apply it and I have to say that the flexidip is about 10 times better, the finish is so much better, the plasti dries almost bumpy the flexi is super smooth. maybe try a video where you dip one wheel in each. And apply 4 thin coats and then start globbing it on.

Not sure these products are intended for the same use, especilly when it comes to cooler plastics: Plasti-Dip is clearly intended to overcoat your car paint and make it look good, or at least better in some cases, while Rust-O-Leum is a brand originally intended on preventing rust, IMO. The implication is that I would definitely prefer an under body coat to be much harder to remove than a paint coating. Good research would have been to call both manufacturers up and ask them what is their position on this and then let us know what they had to say. I really doubt both products are intended for the same use (especially on cooler plastics), but that's just my opinion. Still an educationally great video to watch, though...

Flexi is much more runny and has less solids in the paint. That makes it harder to peel. Also, please get over yourself.
@funkymonkey5297 жыл бұрын
although I think that the video is informational I do want to say that the splotches are due to the way the paint look like it was coming out of the can and your own error if you weren't in a hurry it would have been way smoother,but would you say that as far as the stick quality that Flexi wins? I like to use Plasti Dip as a painting canvas but when you pull tape it comes up fairly easy so I'm looking for something that sticks just a little better but still has the ability to peel off.
@Fifty50Photography7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I think Flexi dip is a little harder to peel off but not much harder than Plasti dip. I think it does stick a little better on the surfaces that I have tried it on. I pulled the tape off when it was still wet so I can't say for sure if it will peel off when you pull the tape off once it starts to dry. I hope this helps. Good Luck!

He clearly peeled them differently. He tried ripping the red into multiple pieces and peeled it safer for the white. Just replay and look at the difference. Think how you would be ripping it off if you didn't want it to rip. You wouldn't peel it and make a circle motion while peeling it off like he did with the red.
@loyddaez21468 жыл бұрын
Plasti Dip is good they're pretty strong and doesn't ripped off that easily when you peeled it.
@artmir68639 жыл бұрын
Colors other than black and white usually need more coats especially when u have a blue surface. Even black and white are supposed to have 4-6 coats. Flexidip has more of a rubber grip feel to it than plasticdip it which I really like. I use both for different applications but I really like flexidip in matte black
@TheCoolStuffHD8 жыл бұрын
You get a smoother outcome if you let the can sit in some warm water to let the dip thin out. It atomizes better when it's slightly warm, but not hot.

Both of the products are good products, but you need to use slightly different techniques when applying. Flexi dip goes on smoother with faster passes and more drying time in between, while plastidip goes smoother with slower passes and less flash time. Also, the flexi dip gloss coat gets glossy faster than the plastidip. Im a fan of both
@Fifty50Photography7 жыл бұрын
I agree, I think they are both good products. Yeah when I did this test I tried to do them both same way for comparison. I will keep the different applying technique and drying times in mind next time. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the information!

Both will get the job done fine. I like plasti dip a little better. If you decide to dip them a color other than I would try to find a color with the fade buster in it. If you use a color you might want to go over it with glossifier. It has the fade buster in it and will help the color from fading in the sunlight.

Waste of time if this video was to see which one peels better. Next time do a durability test. That is what people buy the stuff for. I don't think people waste time to spray it on, wait 24 hours (or drying time) just to peel it back off.

+Chalk The Bus that makes sense. Didn't understand the point at first but I see what you are doing now. Personally I would go for hard to peel so it would last longer under road grime/rock chips. Hard to peel off, the better it may withstand nature in most cases.
