A quick way to distinguish plastic or TR-90 frames from acetate ones. This is not a 100% guaranteed way of telling the difference, but it is correct most of the time.
Acetate is a premium material, and much preffered over regular ('cheap') plastic. TR-90 is a bit better than plastic, but Acetate is hard to beat. Its lustre and strength really beats the other 2 materials. If your budget allows it, we recommend spending a few more dollars and go for the cream of the crop.

Plastic and TR-90
The nose pads are the same color as the frame.
This is because these materials are injection molded.
Acetate
Most acetate frames have clear end pieces on the nose pads, because these frames are cut from sheets of acetate.
The clear end pieces are attached to the frame shortly prior to molding the frame. Afterwards, the frames are hand polished.
