I have been building plastic models of "almost everything" since I was 8 years old. Most of my models are military vehicles of the 20th and 21st centuries. Now I am in my 50s and during this period I have built probably more than one thousand models.
The feeling when I do this activity is similar to "complete relaxation somewhere on the beach shortly before marvelous sunset with a good drink in my hand".
I started with models of airplanes, and then I changed to military vehicles. In my childhood, I built 3 to 4 models a day and then destroyed them in an "air battle".Now I build one model for several weeks or months and keep them safe on a glass shelf.
I will never forget this feeling when I saw a model exhibition for the first time in my life. I could not fall asleep that night.
The same has been happening for many years, but this time I am the observer and I have seen children feeling the same as I did back then- I have been leading various hobby clubs for many years, and at least one generation of my "young modelers" became adults, and new generations are starting again.
This short video has described the process of building a such model.
The shown tools are necessary for the processing of the model, and the rest is just patience and enthusiasm.
The best feeling is when other people like what I created. Once, when there were no mobile phones and the internet was only starting, I put my collection together with the collection of my step-father who builds models of trucks from metal into the local museum for a few weeks. The next day the state TV team recorded a program for the evening news. It was great - children from local schools were in two rows on top of each other trying to see as much as possible-models were behind a glass wall.
For your imagination- the instrument gauges at the dashboard are from 2 to 4 millimeters big, the sights at the machine gun on top of the truck are 2 millimeters big, and Playboy is 1 centimeter big and fully readable.
If you like what you see, give a " like" and forward it to your friends. You never know whether you do not motivate a new modeler right now.
