I just want to say that this video was excellent but I believe (I may be wrong) that rifles and not muskets were used against the natives in the Apache wars

Both were. Initially only militia fought Apache and most militia in the middle of nowhere at the time could not afford rifles. As a matter of fact most of the militias muskets weren’t even made by a proper manufacturing company either.

Fun Fact:In the battle of Little Big Horn fought 5 Italians 4 were part of the reinforcements in the backlines One was in the front line but was sended back for asking for reinforcements,infortunatly Armstrong wasnt sure of his fluency in English,so he personally writed the order taking a lot of time that were very uselfull for the natives
