As far as I remember the reason why rounds under around 20 pen never fragment is because in the logic path of determining whether a round can or can't fragment takes place after it passes the ability to penetrate body parts. Wouldn't think mean that fragmentation has once again been changed and now is around 30-35 pen and under don't fragment? This 'feature' gets more broken every patch and honestly I'd rather it be removed anyway, or replaced with a 'spall' mechanic that interacts with the round and armour just like ricochet does. If anything that's how it currently functions since fragmentation only happen when hitting the thorax (and stomach?)

I don't know if this is common but once happened to me that a sniper scav killed me on my torax one shot but in the death recap said that there was 2 shots to torax so, they're bugged

This might be another issue, scavs have been "doubleshooting", essentially shooting impossibly fast and/or lagging.

Bullets have a chance to fragment and if they roll the fragmentation and have over 20 pen it deals a critical strike for 50% extra damage. I am not f*ing with you. When a bullet fragments it counts as 2 hits.

I'm planning to enjoy this wipe to the fullest because the Tarkov we've loved for 7 years might cease to exist after a scuffed release of armor hitboxes. High probability next wipe a shotgun you buy from level 1 jager is the most meta weapon.

maybe if they made like m80 the best ammo you could buy or craft then it would offset it a bit, and if armor was significantly cheaper and more easily accessible

so i was wondering why a player scav shot me in my side blacked my arm and nearly one shot me he had a mosin that he found some BS ammo for meaning he penned my arm my class 5 armor and did around 70 dmg to my thorax plus a heavy bleed wich nearly killed me, this video explains a lot lmao

Armor hit boxes are going to be very bad when it comes to cheaters. Their software can select where to hit you, (Head, top of head/Head eyes/thorax/neck/stomach etc.). So with very few neck armor options, it’s going to be common to see cheaters using high damage/low pen rounds to one shot your thorax. Not entirely sure how accurate their bone selection is, but seems like a potential problem. I expect “neck” deaths to be the new “head eyes” once armor hit boxes are implemented. Most rage cheaters won’t care, they’ll keep doing what they’re doing and head eye’s(ing) everyone from 300 meters away; but the closet cheaters, which is a decent portion of those deaths where you think they *might* be cheating, but you aren’t sure, will definitely take advantage of this. It could make identifying cheaters even more difficult. Unless BSG changes it with the update, neck deaths register as thorax deaths.

This has existed since they added bullet fragmentation, it's not a bug. it doesnt work on bullets with less than 20 pen.

This is a problem, but since all armors are max lvl 3 until you plate them, most of mediocre bullets will pen anyway. I don't think they understand what they're really doing, but if implemented in the way the showcased it, will be concerning.

I am on the side of the new hitboxes as a good thing for a few reasons. It will make nearly all ammo useful again given that not only will lower pen ammo work but it will be switching up the meta from high caliber high pen rounds in the endgame. This change will be more in line with real world realistim. Most plate carriers and kevlar does not cover the sides or armpits. Leg armor is nearly non existent and same for the nape of the neck.

All this and the thick carriers like the iotv which have soft armor all around will be useful, but make you slower. Iv got a surp otv, with out plates its combersom, dont have real sapi but i do have a set of hesco l210s and that can get heavy quick.

Tbh this plate system looks cool but it's gonna be 10 more minutes between raids. Add 10 min loading time and 1/3 of an hour is spent in the stash. They are killing the game by trying to make it look cooler.

So your solution is to remove armor class from limbs but also give them the equivalent of an armor class of 2-2.5 or so? Also nothing about the teaser confirms that we have actual plate hitboxes, they could easily just name all thorax hits as "thorax" rather than having "upper front thorax, front thorax, left side thorax, right side etc...".

Limb pen is intended. It's the same thing as Collateral Kills where a bullet goes through one player's head, and headshots another. They want TTK to be faster with new armour hitboxes. That is the whole point.

he's talking about ammo types, certain ammo doesn't go through limbs and shouldn't, others should.

While true, hitting 1 bullet shouldn't reward you with 2 bullets worth of damage, there needs to be a balance. TTK being faster with new armour hitboxes should apply to all rounds, not just 35 pen +. Giving timmies a fighting chance should be a byproduct of armour hitboxes which atm doesn't work.

If the author of this video did not submit this to BSG himself then he has no interest in the health of the game. Please post all bug finds to BSG so they can statt to fix.

It will make its way into the BSG content creator discord. Whilst i dont think taeyeoff is in it himself i have seen several bigger streamers watch his content because its always very in depth and high quality so it will be likely send directly to a BSG rep from them. Thats just a theory but yeah hopefully BSG sees this because his optimal fix for the issue is perfect.
