I once used Living Bomb to murder an entire raid guild weeks after the fact when I was promised a drop in exchange for summoning. In their words they didn't need the DPS but nobody wanted to walk and they actually did not have a warlock in their guild. But I got dragged in anyways and after saving us from a wipe in a pull gone bad with Soulstone I still didn't get the drop I wanted even though it dropped in. Got ninja'd and kicked from the group like instantly. Told my guild about it and I knew these guys liked to hang out near the Auction House in Ironforge like every other player back in the day - and now I knew when they all met their for raid day. So we snatched up the Living Bomb on three of our imps. GM was a Brit and being an Irish-American I had some IRA songs on my ProjectPlaylist (yeah, that's how you know I'm older than fucking dirt). Switched audio output to speakers, turned the nob all the way to the right. Maxed out the audio reception on my mic. Joined their ventrilo (they apparently didn't consider banning me from their vent after shitting on me was a good idea). Pushed play. Summoned our imps. Good times.

lol you forgot about ritual of summoning and how people will just ask you to drop everything and find 2 random people to help summon their friend to them. Also (i'm not sure when this was added to the game but) there was also a hidden spell ritual of doom or sacrifice (i can't recall anymore.) it looked like the ritual of summoning but needed 5 people total, and would kill one person at random to summon an elite daemon of the same level as the warlock. i did this with a group of low level people and i ended up getting sacrificed and the daemon killed the rest of them. lol good times.

As a human 'lock in Vanilla on the receiving end, Will of the Forsaken was annoying, but not quite as O.P. as implied against alliance warlocks due to its long CD. I actually prefered the extra stealth detect on the human. And it didn't really help an undead much at all outside of 1-on-1 play because the warlock could force it to be used from range. Also, burst damage was not the only way to go, half of PVP is playing defense. Going all the way to Soul Link was totally viable for flag defense or in almost any AV fight. Between Sacrifice, Healthstone, DS, imp spells, Death Coil, (sometimes SL), and life-drain, Warlocks have a lot of ways to shield and heal. In Vanilla I actually did use my firestone occasionally around level 30-35 to help me level. Its use-case is very narrow. Basically as a mana and movement conservation technique where you double-team mobs with your imp plus fireshield (mob is attacking you) plus mele it with the firestone instead of wand, plus you were physically right next to the mob when it died and could loot it quickly while your imp took a bead on the next mob. Otherwise, though, it was kinda useless. I was not fond of the mechanic just to save a second or two on each mob. Spellstones were also fairly useless... very very niche. -Matt

quick tip for locks on getting fast shards - Que AV and go to the middle and spam drain soul on the mobs fighting each other in the field of strife.

Best way to farm shards is to do scholo or strath ud run and farm both shards and AD rep, one run is enough to fill your bag, get 4+ scourgestones, a shot at a mount, bis pre raid wand, 16 slot bags, or an epic staff (early game)/flask recipe. And yes the general's mount is worth for locks, because getting counterspelled while trying to mount locks you out of fear.

The Warlock will always have a special place in my heart because my first WoW character was a Gnome Warlock. I mainly went for the Warlock due to getting a free mount at level 40 and being able to solo many quests due to having a tank with me all the time. I honestly wasn't that group oriented and put a lot of emphasis on being able to get shit done alone, even if it meant more downtime. For instance, I leveled with a protection Warrior due to being able to absorb much more damage, enabling me to take on several enemies at once.

My first main was a warlock and I loved it. The class quests were amazing, going solo against small armies of mobs grinding and handling elites with my trusty voidwalker Hathgron. I still remember all my pet names! A complete noob in pvp, I was still able to wreck face in battlegrounds just by dot/fear/run and a few quick pet swaps meant I could handle almost anything. Raiding was straight forward with a few utility roles to fill but otherwise hanging with the mages up the back was fun times. Won't be going warlock again though. For classic I plan to try an entirely new role for an entirely new experience. Healer! (Healer alt for years and pretty damn good at it, going to make it my main focus this time around!)

When leveling here's all you wanna do: Corruption and using your wand, you can also use curse of agony but you don't have to. Never cast shadowbolt or anything like that, you will just pull aggro from your voidwalker. Also hilariously enough wands deal more dps than shadowbolt spamming before max level.

Why would the DS-ruin warlock be more squishy than the SM-ruin? They have more health due to Demonic Embrace, their health stone heals more, they can quazi instantly summon a void walker if they need the sacrafice shield.

Well, if you go SM/Ruin you can get Curse of Exhaustion to help kite a melee target when you really need it. That extra control can help more than the extra stamina in demo. IMO any warlock is squishy except if they have Soul Link. Then it's a whole different ball game.

I felt the PVE part was a bit one sided, it was basically a quick overview of two PVE builds, then went on to the negatives of soul shard farming and low DPS pre-Naxx and pre-AQ. Would like to hear more about the role of a Warlock in dungeons and raids, grinding possibilities etc. like you did in the other videos as well.

magneman2 I had a lock as my first toon during vanilla and we were pretty much a utility class. We did decent dmg, but we were brought along so we could summon the rest of the party, our curses, etc. During group quests we would tank with our voidwalker or could solo some of the quests depending if we had potions or other useful items. If you want to go solo and not have to rely on others while lvling warlock is for you. There was always a little bit of everything as a lock and there was a lot of pet switching depending on the circumstances. If you want a lot of versatility and adaptability then a lock is for you because a lot of what we do is situational ie what curse we use, what spec, pet we use etc. There’s a lot of different situations that we can adapt to and come out ahead in comparison to other classics that are a bit more stagnant and are strong in only one specific area. Depending on your spec, pet, you can do a lot of different things from soloing, self- heals, locks were one of the few classes with self heals via siphon life and drain life. Your goal is to be able to adapt successfully and not rely on one specific playstyle and that’s the beauty of a lock you will always have a trick up your sleeve while some other classes may not. As a raiding lock early on you’re there for curses, summons, etc. You aren’t there for dmg and others know and understand that, but that doesn’t mean you screw around, you’re reliant and have to be competent due to your lack of Dps. Mages are the “golden boys” along with rogues, you’re their cheerleader, but still do some dmg. PvP is the main reason I love my lock and cant wait for classic to come out

@@andrew51723 Hi, and thank you for the feedback. What you say is true - and I feel that versatility and more qualitative factors that support a group/raid are often forgotten. There is a strong emphasis on DPS, but the world is more complicated than that. For instance, for mages to get the best DPS possible, utility spells like curse of elements should be applied. I feel that a lot of videos, this one included, weigh DPS too much and forget that in dungeons and raids, you are actually a part of a team that - and all the cogs in the machinery need to work together for it to work. Warlocks might not deal as much damage as rogues, fury warriors or mages - but they are still needed for their healthstones, soulstones, curses etc. (and they still deal good DPS - just not as much on their own, but they have more utility). Would love to see some more vids that also show this aspect.

An enhance shaman probably is the go to "support" without being a healer. In raids they are pretty niche because you need a specific axe to help support your friends. Check out my Shaman video for more info!

Far from a "free" mount, the quest chain is long and requires expensive and rare mats. Same with pally mount quest. Big misconception about them being "free" mounts. It wasn't that hard to get 110g by level 40. We were just young and dumb back then. I remember everyone relied on selling loot from mobs to vendors. Even greens and of course white loot. But now, we are more seasoned, and we know how easy it is to level mining and skinning with leveling, and how easy it is to sell mats and flip items on the auction house. No hate tho, love your vids.

While the rap name thing was probably a joke its actually a thing. I played warlock through vanilla and my skillz in pvp increased with a signifficant margin whenever I was listening to rap music. Something with the slower base rythm and the angry lyrics that just meshes well with the class. Souls, health, mana, weed or farts. Warlocks ALWAYS inhale!

Correction: You can snowball any player no matter gear from 100 - 0 with a seduction, shadowbolt, immolate and conflag into shadowburn in roughly 3 seconds after firing off the shadowbolt. Warlocks have the second highest burst in the game only beaten by blast wave mages with instant casts.

The first part of ur comment is true. The second part is not. There are tons of better burst classes that can do it better, safer, easier. Elemental/ench shaman, POM mages, even shatter combos, Rogues can just ambush-backstab and insta kill any cloth. But the king of burst has to be POM mage. it's literally 1 button macro that will just kill the enemy no matter what. Can't get better than this actually. 1 click - 1 kill.. in an instant

@@akhsdenlew1861 well not even the first is true if you know you will fight lock or you are undead. Shadow reflector makes you immune to seduce so i use that and pop recklesness and 2 shot destro as warrior. Undeads can brake seduce and fear so alliance warlocks will have harder time

Ok it's a fifth time on forum/vid I see people are spending talents on Imp CoA. WHY? Why you do that? 1. You only use CoA on solo farm. Other times you have far more better curse options to cast. 2. The main thing. IT ONLY AFFECTS BASE DAMAGE OF SPELL. So for 3 talents you get 63 DAMAGE OVER 24 SECONDS. It's 2.4dps! Why you do that? Why you have drains interruption talent, viable for every game situation and you choose to do that? No offense. Just a bit triggered to see this mistake so many times. By the way Imp. Drain Life works same shitty.
