Some of these accent patterns at a slower tempo could be thought of as horn hits in a big band, or even a groove related accent pattern, as so many times in drumming we highlight the melody line for a short phrase or the bass line in a groove heavy tune. These exercises are golden Phil, thanks!!

Good observation buddy! Yes on the kit they sound amazing. What really is striking is when you hear this on the original instruments, tabla etc. Just lovely deep stuff!
