Robo = Bob Ross with action figures
@Fuzzy_Barbarian7 ай бұрын
This type of video would have done wonders for me when I first got into action figures. I remember really questioning stuff like using boiled water vs. a hair dryer and how to paint, especially when people would just say "I did this thing" instead of _how_ they did it. Still hoping we see a big Play day soon, but really dig this type of video from you Robo. This could honestly be a new series of videos. Like, Robo's Custom Classroom or something.
@RoboDontKnow7 ай бұрын
Oh, I spent many a year wondering if I should do this or that, if this or that would work, skipping lots of things because I didn't want to mess up my figure. But after ......geez....30 years of customizing and playing I take a lot of those kind of things for granted. I think "that's basics, why would I record it because everyone should know......ohhhh, okay, not everyone is an old man like me." Now that I have the proper space I can show things like that. There will still be big Play Days, where I can't fit the process stuff in, because sometimes I get in a groove and then suddenly I'm spraying sealer and wondering where the past 5 hours went, but I'll do this every now and then too.

Just did the OOTB method for my Krrsantan as well, didn’t even have to heat the arms to pull them off! Removed the spacers, put the arms back, easy peasy! Also question for ya Robo: what Dremel do you recommend? Never purchased one before so I’m kinda lost on what to get.
@RoboDontKnow7 ай бұрын
Not sure if I left it in but I mentioned having that dremel for going on 20 years now, if not more, so I haven't seen what's out there currently. I like a cord so I don't have to worry about batteries or charging, but it also gets in the way sometimes. Don't start too fancy and go from there, see what you like.
@gmoney16647 ай бұрын
Recommendation too - if you get a really decent fine detail brush, get some The Master's Brush Soap too. You can clean your brush normally, but then use that stuff and find all sorts of rubbish coming out of a brush which looked clean!

15:20 too true, that's how I've managed to keep Bib Fortuna standing on my shelf. Great video as always, brought me back to earlier in the week when I was repainting the masked Deadpool head from the Marvel Legends Deadpool/Hydra Bob set I recently picked up, the right eye was okay but the left totally missed the sculpt. It's been a few years since I've done any painting and even with something that simple I realised quickly that I was severely out of practice, but it was such a relief once it was done to have something that looked so much better than it initially did.

The same shoulder spacer decision was made with the Classified Series Mole Rat and I ended up removing them while I was using one for a custom I'm still working on. Why they would use those spacers, instead of just doing the actual butterfly joints, I won't ever understand. Especially when the rest of the line uses actual butterflies, already.

A lot of imports do it the same way but leave more room for that cup piece to move. Where it's less a spacer and more a gap filler when the peg shifts.

Hate to correct anyone, but as this is about safety.. It is actually far safer to not use gloves when dealing with machines/tools that spin. They have a tendency to grab the glove and cause far more damage to your hand. So, no gloves, roll up your sleeves and watch that beard! All of these can easily get caught up and will cause far more damage than the little burr he is using touching your hand😊

From experience I’d rather have a tiny cut on my hand, than the glove getting stuck in the dremel and ripping my hand flesh off . Eye protection is more impertinent imo
